They should. It was in the same league as the Brashear hit imo.

No way. Nucks coach said that too, but that's bullshit. Eager's an instigator, that's his job. He might get suspended for 1-2 games for roughing up a fellow goon, which would be deserved, but if he doesn't get suspended I wouldn't be surprised either. The refs obviously didn't think it was Brashear worthy, hence the minor penalty assessed.

I thought the hits seemed similar, but the circumstances were different. Like you said, Rypien is a fourth liner rather than a defenseman, and he didn't get badly injured, while the guy who Brashear hit did. I wouldn't be surprised if Eager didn't get a suspension, though.

Yeah I read the scheduling wrong.

Day 17. All I have to say is, the Brown hit on Hudler was clean.

Scores:

East:
Boston Bruins 4 - Carolina Hurricanes 1
Bruins lead series 1-0

West:
Detroit Red Wings 3 - Anaheim Ducks 2
Red Wings lead series 1-0

Watched both games tonight... Another brutal game 1 for the Canes. Defensive turnovers caused each goal which is a pity as Boston never scared me much offensively. Tim Thomas had a great day in goal and the result is somewhat misleading. This could go be a tied game if Carolina had been a little more precise in front of the net. Lots of chances.

I hope Mo smacks some sense into the D, as you cannot play careless cross-ice passes against the Bruins. I have a good feeling for game two, and I hope it'll tip our way this time around.

I don't like to complain about the officiating, but they weren't calling anything tonight. Chara got away with mostly anything he did which sucked a little. They did however not call many penalties against Carolina either, which is consistent I guess.

As for the Wings game, it was pretty entertaining with that goal in the last seconds. I agree with the Nut on the Brown hit. Looked clean to me, if not a little late. Great game.

The hit wasn't late. 1 second had not even passed off the clock.

Well it wasn't you. I went to Yahoo NHL and they said TSN as well.

That game didn't look good for the Canucks at all. Other than power plays, they had like 2 scoring chances. >_<

Anaheim scored not long into the third overtime period! Man, I hoped for a record-breaker.

Oh and Hiller displayed one of his best games stopping the total of 59 shots from very very skilled Detroit players. Great game for him.

Bruin - Hurricanes - 0-3. Should've been four.

Just sayin`

Check out the inverted colors.. The glowing one is the puck. And the fucking NHL rules it as no goal? What the fuck? Two .2 goals in one cup-run may be to much for them to handle. That was an awful call. I'm one to complain on the refs or conspiracy against the NHL. But hell, when that happens, Lucic and Chara gets away with several crosschecks to the, and Pitkanen gets a penalty when Lucic slips, makes me suspicious.

Those calls ruined the win for me. I'm just not that happy.

First off, you won. Series tied at 1's. Secondly, the NHL has to honor what the ref calls on the ice. The ref said it was no goal, then unless it is cleary accross the line with a lot of white ice in between the puck and the red line, then it's not conclusive. As for all the penalties not called against the B's, there were a lot of non-calls for the Canes. The refs might of missed somethings, but this is playoff hockey. They can't call every bullshit slash or hook. Both teams got away with some calls, and you still won. I say, be happy.

I missed yesterdays update because I was busy on my first day off in over 2 weeks. I had naked ladies dancing on my face, I was rather drunk and I smoked hash for the first time in my life. So in the end, when I got home I was a little too out of it to come on the computer.

Days 18 and 19. Vancouver blows another lead but this time they can't get the win. Chicago is too fast and is clearly a much better team than the Blues. Luongo is not playing as good as he can, and neither is the players in front of him. The Boulin Wall had his first win in 11 years against the 'Nucks. I'm sure the NHL had a huge hard on last night when both Crosby and Ovechkin scored in their first game of the series. Varlamov continues to shine beyond his years, and the Caps are showing that they are more than a one line team. The Ducks finally get to the Wings. This series will be epic, as shown earlier today. A triple OT game that was hella fun to watch, and it is so perfect that Todd Marchant scored the OT winner. He is playing like a man possessed. Ryan Getzlaf leads everybody in the playoffs in points. Hiller is trying his best to not let the Wings talent get to him, which he seems to be doing fine so far. Not as good though as he was in the Sharks series. Lastly, Cam Ward was huge for the Canes in the second half of the 3rd. Made several huge saves to keep his team ahead. Boston had 10 shots on goal in the 3rd before Carolina had 1.

Scores:

East:
Washington Capitals 3 - Pittsburgh Penguins 2
Capitals lead series 1-0

Carolina Hurricanes 3 - Boston Bruins 0
Series tied 1-1

West:
Chicago Blackhawks 6 - Vancouver Canucks 3
Series tied 1-1

Anaheim Ducks 3 - Detroit Red Wings 2 in 3OT
Series tied 1-1

The only thing that should matter is whether the puck was over the line or not. What's the point of video review if you can't make the call right. That was a goal.

The tension has subsided now though, and I have to honour Ward for his great performance last night shutting down the Bruins offense. I also have to admit that I was impressed with Mo's constant line-juggling all night long to create space for Staal. He found his way around Chara and Ward, and I hope he's getting even better when we get the last line change. Everybody was sprawling tonight and both Cole and Cullen ended their looooong playoff point drought. I'm looking forward to home-ice.

As far as the officiating goes, the non-calls went both ways I guess. But the penalties called against the Canes was less clear thatn alot of the non-calls on Boston. It bothers me that the big guys can do whatever they want. It's not entirely fair, and it limits our players from playing the hockey they now. Kudos to Staal for not getting Chara under his skin, and keep battling away throughout the game. I agree about the slashes and hooks and even trips. But high sticks, crosschecks to the face and back of head, as well as holding players down way after play has continued should be called. Both ways.

I am very happy about that win. It showed that Tim Thomas and Boston are human, and very beatable if we can continue our good work. Will not have my hopes up though. It's gonna be very very hard.

Yeah, I have a feeling that if the ref had called it a goal, then it would have counted, but I don't think that one frame is conclusive that the puck crossed the line.

Yeah, I have a feeling that if the ref had called it a goal, then it would have counted, but I don't think that one frame is ultra-conclusive that the puck crossed the line.

Exactly. The refs may suck, but what they say has to be honoured by the NHL. Unless whatever the ref is saying is 100% completely wrong. This was not such an occasion.

Day 20. These games are scripted, end of story. Both Crosby and Ovechkin get hat-tricks? Nigga please. Markus Naslund announces his retirement, only 5 goals away from 400 on the career. Mikael Tellqvist signs with some team in the KHL.

Scores:

East:
Washington Capitals 4 - Pittsburgh Penguins 3
Capitals lead series 2-0

West:
NO GAMES

IIFH (because I missed it the other day):
Canada 5 - Norway 1 :dio:

Finland 4 - Canada 3 in SO :omfg:  :lame:

Check out the inverted colours. The one that says Crosby on the back is Crosby, notice how he is clearly offside and much too close to those hats. What the fuck? He might step on one and slip and fall which would be too much of a burden for the NHL to handle. This was an awful call. I'm starting to think that there is no "NHL loves Crosby too much conspiracy". But hell, when this happens he could get seriously hurt. Makes me suspicious.
