Check out the inverted colours. The one that says Crosby on the back is Crosby, notice how he is clearly offside and much too close to those hats. What the fuck? He might step on one and slip and fall which would be too much of a burden for the NHL to handle. This was an awful call. I'm starting to think that there is no "NHL loves Crosby too much conspiracy". But hell, when this happens he could get seriously hurt. Makes me suspicious.

fucking hahaha

Day 21. The Ducks got soooo lucky at the end of the 3rd, with the ref blowing the play dead with 40 seconds left and a loose puck in the crease. Hiller was amazing, as per usual. The Wings really turned it on in the second half of the 2nd and the 3rd. Out shooting the Ducks in the 3rd at one point 13 to 3. But the Ducks get the win, and Selanne shows the world that a 38 year old Finn is faster than a 47 year old american. Chris Chelios 47 years old, jesus fuck. As for the Nucks-Hawks game, well.... They didn't blow a lead! Luongo looks like the Hawks may be starting to get at him a little. As Byfuglien seems to get under everyones skin, and tonight it was Luongos turn. Phoenix Coyotes file for chapter 11 bankrupty and Mr. Blackberry put in an offer woth 212.5 Million $'s with a clause attached. Clause is, the team gets moved to Southern Ontario. The NHL and Mr. Blackberry will be in court on Thursday to try and figure it out.

Scores:

East:
NO GAMES

West:
Vancouver Canucks 3 - Chicago Blackhawks 1
Canucks lead series 2-1

Anaheim Ducks 2 - Detroit Red Wings 1
Ducks lead series 2-1

It's pretty funny that the Canucks went into the third period 2-1 and I was still really nervous about whether they'd win or not. Entertaining series :)

I'm at loss of words! What a game!

After more or less dominating the game after Boston's early goal, the Bruins got a reward for their pressure ahalfway into the third period. After that it was all about the Canes again, and while they failed to beat Tim Thomas in regulation, Jussi LateGoals Jokinen once again prevailed when we needed him the most. Boston had a couple of insane shifts during the first couple of minutes, but Cam Ward was again on fire and stopped some enormous chances.

I think the key to tonights win was that Mo proved me wrong and showed that he is rather skilled tactically. Even when Staal's line was out there against Chara, they seemed to find away around and creating tons of chances. Once again, LaRose's work ethic proves as a massive moral booster, as the entire team seems to get inspired when he shifts gears.

Staal had a huge night again tonight and we improved to 6-0 when he scores. Samsonov ended his playoff point drought, and was on fire tonight against his old team hustling, creating plays, and getting a goal. I saw the spark in game two, and it was good to see glimpses of what I remember him by. I think we startled Boston a little by giving absolutely everything in each and every hit we delivered, as we proved a lot more powerful in terms of physicality than I first thought. Bayda, Ruutu, Cole and our D-men was constantly on the look for something to hit, and that might have surprised them a little.

So for the first time, we lead a series. Boston may be stunned, but I think we'll witness a whole nother team friday night for game number four. They were strong tonight and showed glimpses of play we cannot follow for a full period. Looking forward to it, and I still predict Boston in 6.

Elsewhere:

I missed the update last night, as I didn't get to watch either games. Anaheim downed Detroit 2-1 and now leads the series by the same numbers. Impressive, and it'll be exciting to see what the Red Wings can come up with in game four.

Vancouver beat Chicago last night, and I bet many a Canuck chewed their nails when the Blackhawks pulled one back in the third, as they have blewn two three-goal leads in the previous games. However, the Canucks managed to keep this one, and leads the series 2-1.

After leading 1-0 tonight, the Caps did fall short to Crosby and company in an overtime loss tonight. Malkin, who has struggled a bit after the Philly series scored the winning goal. Caps lead series 2-1.

Day 22. 2 games, 2 OTs. I don't really have much to say seeing as how Thomas did a good job breaking down both games. I am surprised Crosby didn't score, but I guess it's ok because Malkin scored for him. Varlamov was huge, again. It's becoming old news. He can't speak english, but he knows to stop the puck. But it was kinda his fault for the OT goal. If he was a better stickhandler, he could of played the puck and not stop it for the faceoff. If he would of played it, no Letang scoring off the draw. Lucic looks hurt, not good for the big bad Bruins.

Scores:
Pittsburgh Penguins 3 - Washington Capitals 2 in OT
Capitals lead series 2-1

Carolina Hurricanes 3 - Boston Bruins 2
Hurricanes lead series 2-1

West:
NO GAMES

Day 23. Well, the Wings got to Hiller tonight. Made him look and probably feel shakey. Shots were getting through and he was letting out some nasty rebounds. Hossa-Franzen-Filpula line looked and was very dangerous, scoring 4 of the Wings 6 goals. Just imagine if that line continues to click and the Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Whoever line gets going. Scarey shit. Giggy made his playoff debut this year, and was pretty darn good. But it was too little too late. As for the Hawks-Nucks, well the Nucks blow another lead. Up 1-0 late in the 3rd, to have a bad clearing attempt get blocked and have Martin Havlat burn them for it. Then just over 2 minutes into OT a screened shot by Ladd, and that's all she wrote. Series tied heading back to Vancouver.

Scores:

East:
NO GAMES

West:
Chicago Blackhawks 2 - Vancouver Canucks 1 in OT
Series tied 2-2

Detroit Red Wings 6 - Anaheim Ducks 3
Series tied 2-2

IIHF:
Canada 4 - Latvia 2 :dio:

Stupid Canucks. They shouldn't have played so defensively sitting on only a one goal lead.

Great game by the Canes last night. Except for a decent second period, Boston didn't really look as big and scary as they have done all season. They got picked apart by the Hurricanes which I am a little proud of actually. Staal is really on fire, and has found a way around huge Zdeno Chara and Ehren Ward. He started and finished the game last night with two great goals, and moved past Ron Francis as the player with most points in the playoffs for the franchise. I think he has 39 points in 36 games, and Francis finished with 38 in 62 or something. Great milestone there by the big number twelve.

It would be awesome to finish this series in Boston sunday, but I doubt that'll happen. I guess they'll try and focus all their firepower on us for the whole game, and I doubt we can keep up with that if not Ward turns into superman. Jussi Jokinen got another HUGE goal and his third game-winner in the playoffs, second in this series. The guy can be really silent for an entire game, but still have a nose for those huge goals. He's been great, and I bet Tampa and Dallas is a bit startled right now. HE has six playoff goals and this should be a great boost for him, after losing his dad in the end of the regular season.

I ahve also lots to say on the reffing, which was horribly inconsistent both ways. In the third at least. Boston got to churn away at our players, and I believe that was the key to their great second period. They got away with every crosscheck, every punch, and even pinning down players for longer periods of time. However, they took some really so-so penalties in the third, and we got away with some minor stuff which I guess is OK. Would still like to see the ref follow a certain line all the way instead of calling random penalties here and there. Frustrating.

Elswhere, Pits figured Varlamov who had an awful game and let in a couple of softies. Looking forward to the Detroit game tonight. I like the Ducks, would be nice to see this one go to seven.

They didn't do too badly last game. I think they need to keep doing the same stuff, playing more offensively, just don't take those penalties that got 2 of Chicago's goals and crippled their chances of a comeback. That last one on Kesler was pretty lame because guys were doing grabs and stuff all game but not getting called, then suddenly the defenseman decides to flop to the ice and they call it.

Absolutely ridiculous game in Chicago. I don't think they'll make it past Detroit though (if they do end up finishing off Anaheim). And I absolutely hate the song they play in Chicago after a goal is scored....hearing it seven times drove me nuts.

Ha

When Leafs games are on TSN and Gord Miller along with Pierre Maguire call them, I usually turn the radio on and listen to am 640. Have the game on the tv, but mute it. Joe Bowen ftw

I haven't heard Holy Mackinaw in so long... too long...

Yeah, that song sucks. They need a new guy behind the sound board for sure.

GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!

That 3rd period was some of the most wild hockey I've ever seen, almost a basketball like back and forth scoring wise. That last goal by Kane was gorgeous. Not many guys in the NHL can fire a backhand with that kind of precision.

I honestly didn't think the Hawks would make it this far, and the Dead Wings have kind of owned them this season, so I would much rather see Anaheim in the next round. I do think whoever comes out of the West is winning the Cup.

And Zad, I know my sprots thread posting upsets you, but frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.

Hey Zad, GTFO.

Bruins and Ducks force game sevens tonight.

The NHL must be drooling at the chance of either an original 6 cup final or Ovechkin/Crosby in the final.

An original 6 final would be cool, especially if it was Chicago v Boston. Two once proud hockey towns who had to suffer through shitty teams and owners and are finally being rewarded. The energy in each arena would be off the charts.
