I lived in Virginia for about 4.5, I hated it too, so we are even. Phoenix is a cool city, just not very friendly because everyone is from some where else. I was born here though but grew up in N. Mex. I am only here about 40 percent of the time anyways.

Hmm Phoenix itself isn't that great but the suburbs around it are the shit. Mesa, Scottsdale, etc. are really nice places to live.

Virginia sucks, NoVA is nice, though the rent is ridiculous. Virginia is kind of a weird state; the Arlington/Alexandria/Falls Church/Annandale/McLean clusterfuck is quite liberal and very cosmopolitan, due to its proximity to D.C. Springfield also has Jaxx, which is a major venue despite its small size. The rest is redneck Southern good ol' boy territory for the most part.
Scottsdale is, indeed, a nice place. I don't know if I'd deal with Phoenix better now that I'm an adult, but growing up there (I moved there when I was 10, moved away when I was 14) sucks more balls than I can convey.

Too fucking hot down there in AZ for me. I can handle my ass sweating occasionally, but PSA (Perpetual Sweaty Ass) isn't cool.
