Not that I really care or take sides but, if you plan on making a new rule everyone should respect it, no exceptions (not even MR personnel).

I predicted this would happen. Stefan starts a crusade, gets a few hangers-on cheering, a few more using the opportunity to post random stuff... can no-one be predictable any more? Is all originality lost? The fact that I'm no longer on the side of TEH FORUM, that bastion of freedom and worker's rights, is the biggest surprise around these parts since it was revealed that Valefor still lurks here, and anyone that didn't know that... :rolleyes:

I'm leaving this open because otherwise Helheim will turn into a warzone quicker than Noodles can say 'JEW!' but my point in the other thread stands: none of you contribute, so strictly speaking none of you have a leg to stand on. Why not give a little back to a site that has been supporting the scene since before most of you could read? Stefan, you've been coming here for years and clearly don't feel any need to give anything back other than your funny-for-a-few-seconds animated GIFs and pictures of topless girls with plungers on their faces. So, guess what? We Who Are Not As Others don't owe anyone an explanation for giving one man an animated GIF (the 1920's Deutschmark of the internets, after all) and refusing everyone else, because animated, flying penises are SO vital to the whole MR experience.

Since when is MetalReviews mission to collect cash from it's readers ? Since when has MR become a capitalist whore ? If you really want cash that bad maybe you should rethink the whole website and go for subscriptions instead...
But you know what ? By insulting me and other forum mates (with your cheapo implied remarks), you have just inspired me to never donate nor give a penny of my hard earned cash to MR .

Since my animated gif is lighter than Mintrude's and since he (Mintrude) can keep it, I refuse to remove it... Of course, if Mintrude removes his, I'll remove mine. Zad, you were funnier when you were just another kid posting on the forum. It seems to me that being part of the "team" has made you an ass (and don't take it the wrong way, you know I still love you). PS: And I posted here because you locked the other thread.

I really don't like cake all that much. But a chocolate cookie now and then doesn't hurt. Mac Donald foot is also okay from time to time, but sometimes I litteraly think it taste like puke - perhaps it's just the danish interpretation of the recipe. My grandparents once had a black cat " Shoo shoo away with you you stinky poo!" I said and kicked it in the ass. My grandparents still wonder why it ran away. Hope this was of any use, Stefan.

frankly, there are greater injustices one could complain about than who gets to use GIFs in the forum, regardless of who's right. it's almost like you pull this crap on purpose so we can have some more drama. oh wait. Zad, for your information, most forums have a "donate" button for those willing to contribute. If I'm not mistaking this one hasn't such a device... Mind you, I'd be happy to contribute but the option simply doesn't exist. Why is that so? I cannot tell. Maybe Chris wants to keep the control or something. And I don't understand why you bring the money issue when everything started because YOU decided that, since you have a shitty computer at work, all gifs but Mintrude's were to be banned from the forum. I have yet to see a forum that technically allows people to use animated gifs but forbids them too... Does that make any sense to you? It sure doesn't to me except if we consider this is a decision YOU took just because you're pissed at you crappy job computer. Add to that that the last message on the announcement thread was from you saying gifs were banned and that everyone had, because you said so, to remove them pronto. No possibility to talk about it, YOU, in your magnificent grandeur, have decided that we had talked enough about it and that your decisoon was final... Fuck Zad! Just try to imagine what it makes you looks like for other people roaming the forum... maybe Zad as the most active staff member in the forum communicated this decision from whoever runs the website? and technically i could write a huge word that would fuck up everyone's display, but just because the forum system allows it doesn't mean i can. i disagree with the "gif ban" but you're taking this WAY too seriously. lighten up. it's like you're trying to start a revolution IN A FUCKING INTERNET FORUM or something.

i will donate 50$ to the site if this forum gets upgraded to software that lets me turn signatures/avatars off. this is an incredibly silly argument. i doubt anyone would get banned for posts in the first thread, the no-gif's rule is dumb (mostly for what Stefan said... why not try fixing the reason we can even put them in our avatars in the first place), and getting annoyed by it is also dumb

Zad no disrespect, your last comment is harsh. We all contribute to the Metal Review community by posting on the forums. Ok maybe not monetarily but without us to keep the forums active they would be totally useless and so would your "dictatorship". We also give our time and discuss the reviews you guys make, isn't our input appreciated ? The only way I would like to contribute is by being allowed to post a review once in a while of an overlooked review but we aren't aloud to do so. There are other ways pf contributing than the monetary way you know. MR simply limits our options. If you think GIFs are obsolete (thats what I get from you comparison) why even bother trying to ban them in this day and age when everything is high speed and affects maybe 0.01 % people ? So because we express ourselves in a civilized manner we deserve to get banned ? What's up with that "Nazi" attitude, I have done nothing but express my right to speak out which is a basic freedom (note that it was also done in a respectful manner). The GIF rule is about making the forum run smoothly for everyone. Since my work computer, which is reasonably fast and has broadband, nearly crashed after one page full of Hellwhore's posts (and that's no indication of the quality or lack thereof of his posts!) and so I doubt I'm the only one who has had problems. I never said GIFs were banned and ordered people to do anything, I explained the situation and asked people to remove them. There's a hell of a difference. Seriously, how long have I been a moderator here? And how many times have I acted like a dictator? Exactly; none. People around here always have problems when moderators do anything that affects THEIR forum. Remember when swear words were changed? When the whole forum was more or less under crackdown? There is no way that any moderator currently moderising here is a harsh master, and making a big deal out of a request to remove some petty GIFs is ridiculous. How am I controlling you by asking you to change your avatar? Jesus, Stefan, have a little mercy on us evil totalitarians! It'll happen eventually, Jeff. There's never a nice way to ask for money, but why does having to pay these costs (no-one will ever be able to live from this place) mean that we're turning into capitalist whores?
