Post subject: So, I bought a Wii today

Looks like the Wii hype has gotten to me. Besides, Virtual Console = :dio:

Anyway, I just bought it with the Wii Sports Pack-In. Any games you guys suggest I check out in the future? I may rent one or two tomorrow.

Definitely any nintendo title (mario, metroid, zelda, SSBB, mario kart) I'm more fond of the zelda and metroid series(twilight princess and metroid prime 3 are both excellent games) though mario galaxy is by far the best since 64. As far as third party games go...good luck! Nintendo has always had this curse for weak third party titles. The only standout that comes to mind is No More Heroes which is an excellent game that deserves more attention.

I've heard, however, that Okami and Resident Evil 4 are good (note to self: Buy Resident Evil Zero sometime).

I'm thinking that tonight I'll buy a Virtual Console game. I'm leaning towards Super Mario RPG and/or Donkey Kong Country 2 (DKC2 being the only DKC game I never bought on SNES).

Don't listen to folk who say there are no good third party titles for the Wii. They're definitely out there, you just do need to look harder than you would for X Box or PS3 to find them.

So yep, as Sifl says, you can't go wrong with any of the Nintendo games- Mario Galaxy is the best Mario since 64, Metroid Prime 3 is awesome, Zelda: Twilight Princess may be my favourite game of all time, and Mario Kart and Smash Bros. are damn fine multiplayer fun (though Smash Bros. sucks online).

The best third party games that I own are Okami, Medal of Honour 2: Heroes (FPS, with very good online multiplayer and controls), Scarface (for a GTA type experience) and No More Heroes- though I've heard very good things about this new game De Blob, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is extremely fun with Wii controls. Right now, the only decent RPGs out for the Wii are a Fire Emblem game (Radiant Dawn, I believe its called) and Super Paper Mario, though a new Tales of Symphonia game which is supposed to be excellent will be out this fall. If you've never played Resident Evil 4, it is of course entirely worth getting. And there's a new FPS coming out soon called the Conduit which is supposed to be quite amazing.

Wii Sports is surprisingly fun. I like it a lot. Especially with the way you use the Wii controller.

It'll also be nice to finally be able to play my GameCube games in High-Def (my GC, which I sold today since the Wii is back-compatible with GC games, was one of the later models where the HD-output jack was removed).

I went with Super Mario RPG on VC. Great game. One of the best SNES games ever made (and that's saying something).

I love my Wii. I'm still content with Wii Sports, but I really want to try Tiger Woods golf. I'm obsessed with the Wii Sports golf and I hear Tiger Woods is ten times better.

Oh and I played Mario Kart for the first time, that is very fun also.

The show reels that Nintendo had for the DS and Wii last week look very VERY promising. Here's hoping they make it out of Japan, and even then to Europe.

To add to the list of games already named
Trauma Center: Second opinion, Trauma Center : New Blood, and Zack and Wiki are also some very good third party games.

Yes, you do. I'm also looking forward to the new Punch-Out!! That's one of my all-time favorite game franchises. And it sucks that it's been neglected for so long (partially due to its politically incorrect nature).

Mario Baseball and Mario Soccer (not the correct names) are also good fun. And Mario Party 8 is an alright game to play with some friends. I 2nd mostly every other game mentioned.
