Post subject:  End of season

So it it the end of the college football season. I am extremely satisfied with how it went, except for the fact that Texass beat Ohio St. and Oklahoma lost to the Gators. BUT!!! The Huskers made it to a decent bowl game and WON!!! And sounds like next year will be a real treat for Husker fans. GO BIG RED!! For those of you who watch college football, how did your team end up?

Seeing as how I'm also a Huskers fan I was very pleased with how the season went. The defense was much improved this year and getting that win the Gator Bowl was great. Hopefully next year we'll be competing for the Big 12 Championship an a spot in a BCS bowl.

UC made it to the orange bowl which was good enough. OSU has to win, though, or it's a disappointment.

Big 12 champ contenders for sure. Which says a lot, since the Big 12 is so damn dominate.

The Blackshirt defense was fucking amazing in the Gator bowl. The only reason Clemson could score anything was because of turnovers.

I'm already pumped for next season. :dio:

I'm so sick of OSU, USC champs. I want upsets, and I want USC to lose every game they play... as well as Texass.

lol

Tech and Oklahoma St. got destroyed by teams they were supposed to have no problem with, OU (and in turn, Sam Bradford) got embarrassed by Florida, Missouri had trouble putting away Northwestern (who NO ONE thought had a chance), and Texas needed a late miracle to be beat Ohio State, the second-best team in the worst BCS conference. The Big-12 is extremely overrated, and has been all season. The SEC and even the Pac-10 were tougher conferences...

Oh no you didn't

I can see your argument with the SEC, but the PAC-10!!!???
BIG 12
19 - Missouri
16 - Oklahoma St.
12 - Texas Tech
5 - Oklahoma
4 - Texas

PAC 10
3 - USC
10 - Oregon
18 - Oregon St.

SEC
1 - Florida
6 - Alabama
13 - Georgia
14 - Ole Miss

I know those numbers don't mean a whole hell of a lot when you're looking at who they played, but the BIG 12 had a much more difficult schedule than either conference. There isn't a contendor (that isn't ranked) in any other conference that could beat an unranked team in the BIG 12. Hell, even Baylor could put up a fight against Oregon or Ole Miss. BIG 12 = Dominant, then SEC, then PAC 10.
You can't only look at media hyped teams. Check out some of the other guys (who are not ranked) that could waste any other team in any other conference.

you can do the same thing for the Pac-10

I honestly think Arizona (the Arizona that showed up to the Las Vegas Bowl) could beat any Big-12 team except Oklahoma and Texas. Same with Cal. I even think Stanford could hold their own against any unranked Big-12 team.

Though to be fair, you may be right since the state of Washington sucks major balls.

Also, it should be noted that the C-USA and possibly the Mountain West are better than the Big 10 :P

I'm no Hawkeye fan, but Iowa really proved their worth this year... Penn State was over hyped though.

And no to your first statement.

Look, I hate Oklahoma (and Florida), but Bradford did not get embarrassed. In fact, I heard mulitiple NFL draft personalities say he looked like he was the most NFL-ready player on the field. I really don't think you can blame either of his interceptions on him, and from what I saw he played well. Florida is just too ridiculously talented for anyone to hang with them at this point.

As for the college football season, Purdue sucked balls, and the Big Ten got shat on in bowl season...again. Pretty much a shitty season all around if you ask me.

I was waiting for the inevitable and tired football semantics comment from our friends across the pond.

Here's some youtube videos, since you asked:

2008 Season Highlights

Texas Tech vs. Texas highlights

Highlight reel of big hits

Tough to find good video quality.

I've been a fan of Carolina Panthers after I visited NC last year. Never got to follow them that closely though. Just read that they're out of the play-offs against a pretty damn poor team. Is it so? And have they always been good? I've heard they suck.

Yes, although I'm not sure you can call Arizona a poor team with the way they've played the last two weeks against good teams. All that stands between them and the Super Bowl is Philly, who happens to be my favorite team, and who beat them by 4 touchdowns just a few weeks ago.

Has who always been good? Carolina? Well, I'd say they've been competitive at the least since John Fox has been head coach, and they did go to the Super Bowl a few years ago. You could certainly find worse teams in recent memory (i.e. Lions and Raiders).

Yeah I meant Carolina.. Nice to hear that they're doing better than the hockey team at least

I've got a jersey with Smith on. Is he still playing? Heard he was injured alot.

I might end up going to college at Purdue next year... in fact it looks pretty likely (I was actually at their embarrassing loss to Penn State where the kicker missed like 3 field goals and 2 extra points or something ridiculous like that). I'll have to get used to the idea of not having a good football team.
