Heey,

In a forum with so many people dedicated to music, I figured I should be able to find some HiFi-nerds to talk to!

Currently I have the following setup at home:

* Reciever: Harman Kardon - AVR 235
* DVD: Harman Kardon - DVD 47
* TV: Pioneer PDP-427XD
* Blu-Ray: My Sony VAIO laptop has a Blu-Ray player och HDMI out
* Speakers: Infinity Beta 40, Infinity Beta C250, Infinity Beta SW12, Infinity Beta 10

My old apartment, but you get the general idea.

I'm working on upgrading it piece-by-piece. (Did my taxes and noticed that I will be getting some money, :dio:)

Anyone have any suggestions for a good receiver? (I want 7.1 sound, and 3/4 HDMI inputs, 1080p, HDMI 1.3(a/b))

I was thinking about upgrading to the biggest HarmanKardon one (I'm a bit of a fanboy), but from what I've read online, a lot of people are having issues with the newer HK. :( Perhaps one of the better Pioneer would be something? (SC-07(USA name)/SC-LX81(EU))

Also saw these speakers the other day and went NOM NOM NOM:

Sadly enough they are about 6600€($8.5k) so that's a bit out of my budget, :P

Anyway, speak of HiFi stuff here! I'm no expert, but I've been getting more and more into it, I'd love to hear what you guys have at home, and what your dreamsetup would be!

i'm just getting into this stuff too. i don't really know much about amplifiers for DVD player set-ups, since i'm only interested in playing music with mine. right now:

Speakers: Totem Dreamcatchers
Amp: Harmon Kardon HK6250
Turntable: Pro-ject Debut III
Denon 5-disc changer for my CD player, i don't use it much. usually just listen to records or my ipod.

my dream speakers are one of the higher end Totem compacts, either the Model-1 or the Mani-2:

i've heard they need a very powerful amplifier to work, so my next step is buying one of those. i've been meaning to go to the local store here and talk to them about it but i haven't had the time. i'd also love to move up the Pro-ject line, since i'm really really happy with the Debut III

woot, bumping this old thread a bit, :]

So I finally ended up getting my tax return, and upgraded the TV
and the reciever!

The TV has a separate media module, so the TV only needs one
cable. The TV is also 64mm thick, so it will be very sleek and purty.

Ended up going for a Pioneer reciever, SC-LX82.

Ordered it yesterday, and hopefully on Wednesday it will arrive.
Happy X-mas to me! :D

No one but me and nöödles into hifi here? :sad:

I would REALLY like to get a record player setup but I don't even know where to start. Plus, it's so darn expensive...maybe once I'm out of college, have a job, etc.
