Hopefully this will have people a bit more divided...
In 13 countries, denying the Holocaust is illegal and will get you jailed. Is this an imposition on free speech, or is it a necessary protection from neo-nazis and history distorters?

Denying the holocaust is like denying the gravity or saying that earth is flat or denying evolution, stupid things only turds can say. I'm for free speech, including idiots' nosenses.

Ridiculous how people fudge over mass murder, the number of victims etc, and how many it needs to be in order to be officially tagged a 'holocaust' or 'genocide'.

Numbers don't matter that much to me, my main argument against it is that it wasn't done systematically like the holocaust with a desire to kill the whole Armenian population.

It wasn't? Policies of Turkification, forced marches, etc? Not to start a war here or anything, but from what I've read about it it was very much their intention to remove Armenians entirely. Putting children on boats and sinking them is hardly a suitable action when fighting rebel uprisings.

We British can't really criticise, of course, what with the mass starvation we caused in Ireland and India and the many atrocities in Africa and the Australian regions. Hell, is there a nation in the world that hasn't done horrific and evil things to its minorities?

People are evil, what can I say. Just remember that what you've read about this issue was written by Armenians only, and not even their historians. There is a different Turkish side of the story, which no one seems to care about. What happened to the Armenians was a shame, no doubt, but really it is different than the holocaust, especially in the motive.

People can not exist peacefully. Not even today.

Well, and Germans and Swiss and Americans. I know the Turkish are all 'yeah it was a war they were allied with the Russians', which seems a bit :huh:
