Famed Duke Nukem 3D Creator 3D Realms Is No More They will be missed. But let's be frank: When you spend more than 12 years working on a single game, it's only natural that your finances will be gradually drained. |

I thought they closed years ago, tbh. Fine, Duke Nukem was a great game when greater games didn't exist, but was there anyone honestly hoping for DNF to ever arrive? Seriously? |

Just wait, someone will pick it up and finish it. They'd sell alot of copies on curiosity alone. Call it the Chinese Democracy factor. Also, there's a DN trilogy for PSP that is still going to be released as planned. |

I remember being really excited when DNF was announced back in 1997. Of course, to play it, I would've needed a new computer since all I had was a circa-1994 486 DX2 that wasn't even packaged with a CD ROM drive (and installing one was a real bitch). But then 3D Realms decided to switch from the Quake 2 engine to the Unreal engine. And thus began their downfall as a game developer. Personally, I'd love it if DNF was eventually released. I'm still playing Duke Nukem 3D on X-Box Live Arcade, and if Duke Nukem Forever is eventually released and actually turns out to be a good game, you can be rest assured that I'll play it. |

Of course, in the wake of games like Manhunt and Grand Theft Auto 4, Duke 3D seems relatively tame now. But I remember, back in 1996/1997, that was about as wild as video games got. |

That's what happens when you switch engines mid development and have a ton of staff quitting, dead or laid off. |

That's sad to hear. Prey was a decent enough game. |

It's their own fault for sitting on that title for so many years and not really releasing anything else of value. At least right now someone who is competent has picked up the DK name, and will deliver us a title soon. |

![]() ![]() The DNF ridiculousness reminds of the John Romero fiasco. I almost feel sorry for these people, but I suppose they made their bed. |

Yep, its really an interesting story. That ad was just the beginning of the stupidity. Anyone who isn't familiar should google John Romero and Ion Storm. Quite a cautionary tale for letting success go to your head. |

I bought meself a copy of Daikatana a few years ago, cuz it was cheap, I was young, and it looked cool. For some reason I got blocked really early on in the game, can't remember if it was a bug or if I just sucked. |
