I never understood the point of twitter. I generally think most social media is useless unless checking out a band page...but twitter seems to be the most useless of them all. Also "twitter" and "tweet" are possibly the worst words ever for anything. When I hear even news reporters talking about "tweeting" or how some famous person "tweeted" this or that I think humanity has struck a new low

Seriously, Twitter is a great way of following the news, and spreading it quickly. A lot of information about the Egyptian uprising came via Twitter - like I said, it's not a great deal of help if you want to check a band out, but as an online network there's a lot to recommend it. |

Indeed. It actually brings issues, here (and elsewhere I suppose), when national elections are organized. The electoral law states results should not be proclaimed before 8 PM, when all polling stations are closed. However, with Twitter basically anyone can have the first results by 6:30, 7 PM, something like that. Which can lead to distorted final results. I love when technology screws old and ineffective ways/habits up. |

I use it to get comments from various smartass sarcastic non-existent characters (such as NotSteveHoffman) and musicians. I haven't really dug that deep or gotten even a decent sized fraction of the people that are probably on there on my follow list. But I don't tweet myself, because who cares? |
