While to some it maybe incredibly myopic to say "We are the only family in this cosmic neighborhood. Alien life has yet to ever encounter with us, and while I myself am a firm believer in the existence of life beyond the horizon, at times I wonder what the implications would be for its discovery. Avoiding the Carl Sagan sermons, if humans encountered intelligent beingsm what would become of our rendezvous? If the beings are sentient as we are, what would the interaction be? Would they blow us into cosmic dust, befriend us and teach us about theur technology, or are we completely isolated as a mote of dust in the cosmic sea? Do you see human life as being enriched by the encounter, or should we be actively trying to avoid little green men?

Best to teach them Marxism and sit back as they destroy themselves.

Speaking of aliens, the new Dr Who episode is brilliant.

Right, then... I'll bite.
Been where and done what, exactly?

After hearing that the Allen Telescope Array is in danger of being shut down, I'm starting to realize that the search for intelligent life has hit a bit of a wall. I remember being excited when SETI first came online, but after a few years and nothing, a couple of things dawned on me

1. If an intelligent life forms existed in our cosmic neighbourhood and were sending signals, likely they would have shown up right away

2. If not, then what are the odds of a new signal showing up in my lifetime? Not very likely.

Although the search for other planets has been exciting, I still think it is better to concentrate on the intelligent life found here on Earth (and yes there is plenty).

You probably don't have mindset to accept this:

Ancient Mesopotamia

Ancient Babylonian texts describing such events as fact

Ancient Hebrew texts describing such events as fact, despite it's many mistranslations and adaptations of stories from the tablets above.

Ancient Egypt

Ancient Sanskrit texts describing such events as fact. Modern Indian culture accepting "we were created by aliens" as a fact of life.

American Indian tribes telling tales of literally aliens visiting from
the sky. Dressing like them in tribute.

....countless middle ages artworks depicting them.

The development of electronic circuits light years ahead of the technology at the time when solid state and digital was being figured out. The complete inability to describe how said circuits actually work in more than oversimplified two-dimensional math and sometimes 3D math. You can't invent something that you don't know how it works. It has been heavily speculated that these technologies were reverse engineered because accidentally discovering an op-amp is about as likely as cracking a 256-bit encryption in a few minutes of brute force.

Thousands of photographs, a media blackout as far as serious journalism is concerned, hundreds of testimonies of government and military officials.

I think the history of inventing contradicts this.

He's calling you a skeptic who wouldn't take him serious no matter what evidence he posts or explains.

Not really in EM. The whole Lenz/Lentz debacle made sure that any EM Engineer is clueless unless they think outside the system and research it. That is why Tesla and his contemporaries did research that no one would even think of today. His personal papers remain classified for no reason at all other than to suppress his theories/experiments/inventions. The only thing we have done with EM in the last 50 years is make more complicated versions of the same shit. All digital can be traced back to gates, for example. A processor is an extremely advanced series of gates.

It is not hard to imagine that in an endless universe there might be intelligent lifeforms different than ours. Our imagination has gone far in drawing conclusions; what the ancients have seen and documented are something of a different nature that I haven't studied in depth but have found some things in the internet that are not reliable sources at all. But I will not believe until I see evidence of this with my own eyes or hear it from a respectful source. Even if there are aliens, I refuse to believe such an absurd notion that us human beings are being controlled by aliens and that they have created us. hypothetically speaking, aliens have been in the universe much longer than we have been, though, if would be childish to think that aliens have created human beings as their slaves! That's ludicrous!

Can you please explain how we got Alien DNA? I've heard a few other theories that involve germs, viruses and that sort of thing, but that really seems like going completely out of the way to suggest something else other than "this part of our DNA is not from Earth, so it's gotta be from somewhere else." We are unique. Perhaps we were made to survive the die off that is still occurring from the ice age.

Can you please explain how you came to the conclusion that we have alien DNA? What constitutes something as alien in terms of DNA? Variation is what makes DNA what is.
