It's the best display on earth of the prodigious things you can do with horse medecine and idiots. I liked it when I was a kid (it's part of the French héritage after all), not anymore. It's kind of a silly sport to watch on tv, really. |

Yeah, it's not for everyone. Mountain stages are awesome, but flat ones are dull indeed, unless you're a super-fan. I love "grand tours" (il Giro d'Italia, le Tour de France, la Vuelta a Espana (where's the fucking tilde on macbooks keybords..?) ), especially because of the mountain stages and because the best riders of the world are there. I watch them every year, and it's been 20 years now. But I perfectly understand why people often don't like it. Too long, not enough action. But that's the beauty of it actually

Ha! Hiking on the hill roads of Northern Thailand (Pai!) on my motorbike! That's the life... And no fucking cyclist around to spoil the fun!

coming back drunk on a rented bike from Esquirol, taking a wrong turn and ending up at Carmes before finally finding your way back home is one of the seminal Toulousain experiences i would say lol. |

The rider's name is Johnny Hoogerland, and he received 33 stitches the night after the crash. He finished the stage, struggling and bleeding, but he finished it. He's the one you can see flying and landing on barbwires, in the back. The one who actually got hit is Juan Antonio Flecha (he's famous). Oh and the driver of the black car is, of course, now unemployed. |

That crash was nuts. My dad and I were talking about how hockey seems like the only sport where a dude will get his face broken then come back and play later in the game a couple months ago, but I guess that proves us wrong. |
