| Post subject: | Call for Paper: Black Sabbath and Philosophy |
http://philevents.org/event/show/649 So this came upon my radar. It's a call for essays of a philosophical nature so social theory, cultural studies or even more literary studies kinda scholars could probably get there foot in the door on it. I am assuming it is for a book something like this (amazon book link or main publishing site). Who the abstracts are submitted to is the guy who edits all those anthologies. The Metallica book has articles on mind/body dualism and the song One, Hetfield and Kierkegaard's authenticity, Foucault on madness and Sanitarium, the ethics of suicide, euthanasia, execution, etc., and the justness of file sharing (not a joke). They are essentially ways of utilizing pop culture to talk about generic philosophers. I'm submitting to it regardless insofar as all you need is an abstract (500 word essay of what you propose to write about) and a C.V. The books usually suck to be honest. I bought the Metallica one and kept it because of what it is. I had the Simpsons one but it was awful. Bart is not the ubermensche. Getting published in something and the compensation of an honorarium can't be balked at. |

Would be cool to be published in this. Don't know that much about philosophy though...but I'm willing to bet that any philosophy student has a decent shot. |
