Brilliant! I will try to post a picture of my collection, too. Although it's in desperate need of organization which will be alphabetically. It's going to happen over the course of next few months when I get more shelves. I am out of storage room!

My collection is definitely heading towards Progressive and jazz. Jazz is something that I want to dig deep in. My current favourite artist is Miles Davis because I haven't heard much further than that. That will change, though. Soon, very soon. I have about 6 or 7 Miles Davis albums and will be getting all his discography.

And I understand the alphabetical issue. The worst for me is how often I place one CD in another case cause I have so many floating around in my car. Every few months I have to do a purge of all my albums to find where they are all at. DT's We Are the Void was missing for nearly a year because of this lol.

Thanks man. I have alot of framed stuff in the garage that used to be part of my music room, until my son was born and took it over. Now I have a music corner in the living room lol.

I had a friend some years back that was killed in a car accident, back when we were in High School. We were hardcore gamers and drank Mountain Dew like it was water, but he was more into it than the rest of us combined. So at his funeral all his friends split a twelve pack and toasted him. I have had the can around 12 years now, and it will be there for as long as I live. Horns up to him \m/

I am guessing something similar has been posted before, but thought I would strike this up. I am an avid CD collector (and some vinyl to), and will be until I die. I don't just purchase any random crap, but over the years it has grown and taken on a life of its own. If people talk about selling off all their records in a garage sale, I am the guy at 7am digging through their boxes to see what I can get. If you are like me, this is a thread to show what you have (pictures are great) and talk about it.

I think my collection only exceeds to 900 or so CDs. I only have two Vinyls. An Absu - Abzu on its way and a Zyklon - Aeon that I accidentally bought! I have strong plans to change when I make more money and have a fine Vinyl player with all the set. Great thread. It would be nice for fellow posters to explain in which department they need to expand, fill holes, etc. Listening habits, listening area, how they pick albums or records out (any specific order that it follows), etc.

I'm a firm believer that once one passes the rush to buy random or just one genre of music to expand their collection, what it comes down to is methodical purchases rather than a concentration in one aspect of an specific genre of music. I don't think I'll ever feel the need to follow a book for a historical context paralysis but I see why you would do that. My personal vision is to find sources of inspiration of musicians. That necessarily isn't related to music itself. It could be from art or simply a landscape or whatever the case might be. I have learned that Miles Davis had a big inspiration from African art which can be very dark in nature. Metal can be extremely dark at times, So I feel the need to come to the light side once in a while to breathe and familiarize myself with many more aspect of light and the grey. Who knows how long I will last in the bright side or how much I want to delve deep in the dark side. Intense study is always my goal, however.

I'd probably do something similar too if one of my friends died.
