I just received a 7" and had to change the speed. Then when playing a 12" again I forgot to change the speed and played it at a lower speed for a few seconds. That won't ruin the 12" would it?

It's multiple choice:

a) Probably not. The only difference to the equipment is several mechanical resonance values changing, which do not harm the equipment or records.

b) It's a insanely hard piece of rock bumping it's way along a stiff but flexible plastic part that is designed specifically to have a diamond laying it fairly hard with a minimum of wear. It sounds like a lot could happen, but you'll be okay.

c) There is no reason at all this will harm anything, end of story.

It's the most direct answer of the 25 I came up with. 22 answers didn't cut it, so they weren't included. This is how all technology questions should be answered. 5 different answers for all experiences because the same answer isn't strictly true in the context of everyone's experience level.

I agree. Technology is a brain itself outside of the creator that composed it. I'll play the whole LP tomorrow and find out for myself. Cheers.
