Hey, i figured this was the best place to put this rather than the lich lord.
To those guitar players of you who play black metal, what do you use to achieve your sound.
Right now i have a crate stack, solid state, for an amp. For effects i have a line6 pod and a digitech metalmaster distortion pedal.

With the pod i can mimic alot of amp styles and what not. Any of you out there have any idea how to achieve a good bm tone with such gear. One thing im trying to overcome is that my set up is totaly digital ( pretty awesome for plain old rock, not so much when doing this) andim shootign for more of an analog sound.

I suck at gear... all I'll say is fuck pedals in traditional BM, just use the amp's distortion and crank that reverb up as well. Less is more.

If you have a band, shoot your bass player in the head. Replace him with a mannequin in corpsepaint.

No low end ist krieg. The less low end you have, the krieger you are.

If it doesn't hurt to listen to, it isn't kvlt!

NONONO, the guitars have to be raw and buzzing, but the bass has to be audible as well. Drums are best with a flopflopflopflop double bass, and the reverb on the whole must be extravagant. That's the BM sound. Try the latest Bekhira for a perfect BM production.

For that classic Darkthronish chainsaw sound: lots of gain, lots of mids and highs and very little bass. Some reverb doesn't hurt either.

I don't quite agree with this. The sound of 2nd wave BM is cheap guitar > cheap distortion pedal (Boss HM-2 owns j00 all!) > cheap solid state amp.

But overt FX processing is definitely gay.
