At a guess I would say this thread is reserved exclusively for the European style of football? I say that only because the Australian idea of football looks like this

Ibracadabra is probably the footballer with the most awesome goals, as in the most goals that are awesome.

if he won the champs league or played for a good national side, he'd be a ballon d'or winner for sure.

He's beyond awesome. I'm seeing Anderlecht - PSG live tomorrow, tickets cost me quite a sum but I'll probably get my money's worth.

it's strange, on one hand it's even better to observe such players live, on the others you see them working their magic against your own team.

Benfica plays Olympiakos in Athens. atmosphere there is always incredible (read: terrifying).

I'll try and treat it as a win-win situation

exactly. one doesn't get to see players of this caliber live very often.

also the Benfica game is in Lisbon, my mistake.

I hope you managed to, otherwise I feel sorry for you

I know it's only 25 minutes into the game, but still. Ibracadabra seem to be on quite a scoring spree.

Edit: And a third one added. Not a bad hattrick in the first half, the last two goals were nice to watch.

I mean, the power in this shot for the third is pretty unsavable. YT keeps removing CL videos so I'll keep it here as a gif:

Holy fuck, that third goal. What a way to complete a hattrick.

Anderlecht is going through some really rough times. Bit of a transition year with a lot of youngsters that have yet to learn the ropes, especially CL-level (Praet, Tielemans, Mitrovic, Acheampong, N'sakala, all still in their teens). Couldn't even win against Olympiakos...

his second was also awesome, but the third was good enough to make people forget it.

Benfica is also in the hole. after coming so close to perfection last season - Europa League final, portuguese cup final, and making it to the second-to-last game in the league with a 1 point lead - it all came crashing down and we ended up empty handed. i think the team is extremely unmotivated and that the manager has lost their support.

the real culprit is the chairman though. luis filipe vieira is using the club to line his own pockets and the idiot fans who reelected him with 83% of the votes are too fucking stupid to see it.

There's two things universal to all sports. One is that the brilliance of players is always more astonishing when witnessed in person. The other is that when the fans of a team are able to be involved with their team in some respect it seldom leads to good.

Do you know of a decent livestream for this kind of match? Because none of the TV channels I have here will be broadcasting it.

i find streams through firstrowsports or rojadirecta. the former has like a million pop ups but once it's up and running it's ok.

Indeed a great match. As much as I think Ronaldo is a brat, he's still quite a brilliant football player. Those finishes were undoubtedly masterfully done.

Ronaldo is the world's best footballer.

his poor reputation is undeserved... on the pitch, his work ethic is beyond reproach. all his teammates constantly lavish praise on him, noting how hard he works and how focused he is. he has impressed two of the best managers ever, Alex Ferguson and José Mourinho, and he has conquered two completely different leagues with two completely different teams.

it's a shame he will probably go down in the history books as another Kaka or Shevchenko (one of the best on his day, but not consistently, and not one of the best ever) when he is Pele to Messi's Maradona - a living legend.

i can't stand this Portuguese side, i only respect Patricio, Coentrao and Moutinho, besides Ronaldo, but it would be a crime for him not to go to Brazil in 2014, even if it was at Ibrahimovic's expense.

In other news, Belgium took a beating from both Colombia (0-2) and Japan (2-3) in recent weeks and has again tumbled out of the Fifa top 10. People in this country were actually jubilant after them winning their qualification group, saying that they'd have a good shot at winning the tourney, but this
