*SPOILER* stupid, stupid thread *SPOILER*

Just incase you miss my posts, this gos out (mostly) to UK posters: I want to exchange this shitty Necrophagia EP in Virgin and want to know what to say, I mean, what are the rules on this? Can I waltze in and say "Got it for a friend, they already have it" and just get a differant CD? Or will I have to make up an absolutely heinous lie about the inside conspiracy of Virgin Megastores tricking people into buying the wrong cd to exchange is? Hmmmm?

You have a receipt? Take it in and say it's broken and usually they exchange it no questions asked.

I may try this, but a range of examples would help-I'm regretting this purchase a lot, it was fucking £10.99. :(

Because it is really easy to accidentally pick that up instead of Necrophagist. I think that accounts for most of Necrophagia's sales.

Examples? Uh, ok... I had a Relapse DVD which I said was broken, so I could exchange it for the Evil Dead box set that I'd inexplicably not already bought. It wasn't broken, but there were compatibility issues with the DVD player I was using, so it was effectively unusable.

The point is, when I exchanged it they didn't give a shit... They'll just say "OK, heres your money back", without checking.

true, I bought a Dead Can Dance cd recently and when I opened it upan there was no cd. This was the first time I had ever had that happen so when I went to echange it I didnt really expect them to belive me.

Apparently from what the salesperson told me it does happen sometimes and they let me exchange it. I dont think they will let you get something else though.

Last week I tried to buy the new Dragonforce.. and popped it in my car stereo and was subjected to the sweet sounds of some bad Motown R&B shit.. I guess there are misprints once in a while. Took it back and got Sunn O)))) instead.

Yep, the sticker covered up to Necrophag on the front. Anyways, I think I'll just say it's broken, so long as they let me change it, not swap it for the same cd.

you should say you had the cd and bought it again by mistake...

if you say it's broken they're going to give you the very same album and you'll be disappointed...

if it's Copy Protected you can very well say it doesn't work on your player... otherwise, you'll have to go twice with the same lie (it doesn't work) 'cause they sure will exchange it for the very same...

that's why I suggested you said you had very early Alzheimer and thus had bought the same album twice while you own about 10 real cds ! not a very good argument, I agree, but it might work (an make you look like a fool too)

Dude, I don't give a shit how I look, right now I should be listening to Necrophagist, not acting pissed off because I bought a friggin' Necrophagia EP. I'll just say I already have it, I'll probably get a Manowar cd instead (I don't have any yet  ) And I have about 50 real cds, so there.

I'm going on Saturday, I'll (attempt) to exchange it then. I don't know what I'm going to go with yet, I think I'll just say "I recieved it as a gift and I already have it", give them the reciept and see if they'll let me fvcking change it.

A friend of mine recently exchanged a Sunn O))) cd with no questions asked - although that was HMV, I coudn't tell you about Virgin (I have a sort of semi-adherent policy about not buying from them).

My mum binned the reciept knowing that I was going to exchange it...I think it was some sort of semi-revenge for my being naughty in school..."I didn't mean to bin it" "You new I was going to change the cd" *sarcastic voice* "sorry, I forgot".

*Purposeful use of the word 'naughty' for comic affect, but I forgot to expand on it.
