Man, it's about time you told us all how much ya bench, cuz you look like Stone Cold on steroids. I mean, I've wrestled (much of my life, and in college), worked sub fighting and kickboxing, but I still wouldn't fight you, even if I had a poolstick and a gun in my hands. So, what'd you do to become such a beast?

Combination of things:

- hardass Dad who wouldn't let me be a couch potato.
- motivation after getting humiliated by bullies as a kid
- I now enjoy the hell out of working out

I was a quiet, shy little kid that didn't care about having friends. I was happy enough to sit inside and play with my Atarti 2600 all. My dad had enough of that by the time I was 8, so he took me to the gym to get me off my ass, and to get some excersize. Because I was shy & quiet, I was an easy target to get bullied. I had enough of getting harrassed by age 13, so I went hardcore into lifting. I set goals, worked hard to achieve them, and just kept at it. Proper diet (very crucial, by the way) became important to me, as did busting my ass until practically passing out. After a while, I became obsessed with the best possible diet and workout startegies to get big. Since then, working out has become a part of who I am, and not just something I do. Aside from that, I take my MP3 player to gym and listen to metal for 2+ hours uninterrupted! What's not to like about that? I still ejoy the challenge of setting goals, and figuring out the best ways to conquer those goals. Arnold Schwarzenegger once said that the burn from a hard workout is better than cumming. That is a strong analogy, but it does get quite addicting once you get into the routine and see results. If I can find a way to add another 50 pounds of lean muscle mass, I'll do my best to get it done!

One question: do you have any particular strategy to avoid joint (tendon) injuries?

Or how about how to get past a plateau? I lost all motivation b/c I was on this damn plateau and could not reach my goal. I was pretty big during high school and at my peak after my first year of high school. Now I'm punier than ever. But I go running, so at least I'm active still.

I just hit 30 and I'm getting fat! I don't know what to fucking do, I have horrible eating habits! I'm a relatively big dude, 6' 0" and 220lbs before gaining weight, now I'm 240lbs. Still not fat, but getting there. It's like my metabolism hit a brick wall.

I need to figure out how to eat right because I eat like shit. I've always been able to do so and not gain an ounce. I'm about to crash, I can tell. Everything I eat and think is healthy...is not. Any good sites/books to learn about nutrition (hahaha)? Anyone know?

I highy recommend the Subway diet (serious). And oatmeal or whole grain cereal for breakfast every morning.

Eat clean dude.Eat quality protein, good fats and complex carbs and spread them in 6 meals this keeps your blood sugar levels in check and you are in fat burning mode.

Plus get some much needed exercise either by weighlifting, cardio or both.

There are several books out there some swear by the Body For Life and then there is Lee Labrada's new book The Lean Body Promise you can find details here:

Oh man don't get me started on Jared and Subway.Don't get me wrong Subway is good and if you have to eat fast food then that's the best place to eat but there are better alternatives then that.

For us thirtysomethings who are not ultra serious,, there are easier ways of maintaining a normal weight. Hell, even Oprah's white diet works fine.

Well whatever works and if some can find that right diet that allows them to lose weight and keep healthy then cool.

But don't get suckered into a lot of that though just because someone says this works and that works on TV doesn't mean it does or it doesn't mean it will work for you.

Always find what works best and stick with it.

And you can learn a lot about the basics of nutrition from sites like you mentioned as well. Most of the problem is psychological, anyways. I think most people know what foods are fattening.

Weightlifting ist krieg. It's always an ego boost to go to the gym and set the weights higher than the person who used the machine before you.

Yeah a lot of it is indeed psychological but here in the states obesity has become an epidemic that needs to be stopped if only people realize that what they eating(those who are overweight)are actually killing them and making them look ugly and unattractive.
