Post subject:  prolificacy competition (nomination stage)
Ok, I thought of a competition we could all dabble in.. basically it's fantasy football but in terms of appearance on recorded material.

these are just some rules I threw together. each of us gets five points with which to pick a certain amount of musicians. each time any of those musicians appears on a single, EP, album, DVD or whatever else you score one, er, goal :P

at this point I want you to nominate some particularly abundant musicians who should be worth more than one point.. here are my rough guidelines.

4 POINTS: people like
Akita Masami (Merzbow + collaborations)
..who are virtual fountains of music

3 POINTS: people like
Mike Patton (Fantomas etc)
Cristophe Ziegler (Vinterriket + Nocternity)
Wrest (Leviathan + Lurker of Chalice + blahblahblah)
Greg Anderson (every drone band in the US)
..who have multiple projects but aren't exactly reliable in their release schedules

2 POINTS: people like
Dave Grohl (crap bands)
Michael Kiske (previously good bands)
..who like to collaborate a lot.

anyone not on any of these lists costs one point. yes, you can buy musicians outside of metal, so picks like John Zorn, Terry Bozzio etc etc are possible.

This shouldn't interfere with NFAE's competition as there's no creative writing involved.. all each player has to do is keep track of their artists' release schedules.

so.. submit some abundant artists 8)

I take it this means from this_exact_point onwards and not things they've done in the past?

ah I should have specified. once we've compiled a good list then we'll decide when this begins; anything from that date onwards counts.

Hmm.. problem with jazz musicians is that it's standard practice in that genre to release albums much more regularly than in metal. Plus, it's widely expected of jazz players to appear on hundreds of different people's albums- there's kind of an "every player's a session musician" mentality. Whereas in metal there's only a very small number that work outside of their own band.

Hmm, can't think of many appropriate metal guys right now, though... Give me a while :oops:

Do artists that produce count as a goal if they produce an album?
