I'll be putting up live reports in the coming weeks, but I thought I would share some of the random stuff I learned this weekend. -The cops will get mad at you if you drive 44 in a 20 mph zone, even if it's 2 in the morning on a back-country highway. They will also helpfully inform you that your headlight is out. -If you attend Metalfest with someone you know is flakey, you shouldn't be surprised when she decides to leave halfway through and return at one to pick you up. -Related to that, you also shouldn't be surprised when she's over a half-hour late. -She might also decide to simply not show up the next morning, and, instead of doing something like calling you on the phone, emails you, informing you that she can't go because she needs to "take care of herself," leaving you stuck in the Pioneer Valley with a car that is currently illegal to drive (stupid headlight) and seemingly no way to get back to Worcester, since garages are closed on Sundays, stupid fucking Puritan country. -Related to that, it is very, very good to have friends who are mechanically inclined, and willing to help you change your headlight bulb. -Sometimes, your runny nose and itchy throat are due to allergies and dehydration. Other times, you're falling ill while standing around in the Palladium, with five hours to go before DragonForce takes the stage. -Seeing DragonForce makes up for EVERYTHING. EDIT: I forgot to add: Palladium security is very kind and helpful when you are bleeding profusely from the face. |

The official story is that this 'core kid came up to me and was all "Death metal sucks, hardcore rules!" And I was all "You suck!" And he walloped me in the face, so I grabbed his hair, smashed his face into my knee, and kicked him in the balls, so he ran away crying like a little girl. The real series of events is only slightly less entertaining, I promise. metalNESS - No, unfortunately. Circumstances beyond my control prevented me, on both counts. I really wanted to, though. |

Bullshizzle. The DF gig in 2004 was the best one I've seen from them (I've since seen them two more times). I've also got a friend who just randomly up and left in the middle of a festival because someone stood on his ankle. I'm not kidding. |

Must admit that i only seen them once so it could have just been a one off poor show. |

You should write a book, Kayla. We need more metal-related books, and stories like that, memories of gigs, etc, would be good. |
