i find basic parts of Integration interesting.. but the i fucking hate suck expressions as "x^a^(Log(377x^12e)(ln(37x)) divided by cos(x)" :x how often will you be able to use this kind of crap knowlegde?!?

i did alright to the exam though, cuz that was only some of basic stuff...

Actually, Math is my major. Right now I'm taking Topology and Numerical Methods.

As for integrals, those can actually be quite fun. They're very useful if you plan on going into physics or even architecture.

You should be glad that x is the only variable factor there and not ational y and z as variables.

i'm beginning Integration in Rn this week or the next at college.

integration isn't that bad, at least the simple stuff they do here.

mind you my course has nothing to do with physics and engineering and shit, so hopefully it won't get too complicated.

Actually, implicit integration (ie. integration with more than one variable) isn't much more difficult than standard integration. Ditto to implicit differentiation (ie. derivation with more than one variable). Wait until you get into proving mathematical theorems. Then the real challenge begins. :twisted:

yeah, my math teacher says that though they'll ask us students "straight questions", mathematicians are required to do demonstrations rather than "straight questions".

Don't get me started on integrals. They are usually not all that difficult logically, it's just that they can produce ALOT of text and headache. The most difficult part in my experience is keeping track of all the minuses.
For instance int(x^5*e^(-ix)dt). Brain implosion imminent...

I love math. I just finished up my easier calculus class (since my school doesn't offer the complete calculus course). Unfortunately to get the whole thing I'll have to take the class at college over the summer.

Everything is fine and peachy, except for Solids of Revolution. I can't grasp them, at all. I can never correctly set up the integral.

I <3 math.. Of course I don't find the very act of subtracting, adding, differentiating or integrating etc. particularly exciting in itself, but math appeals to me on a philosophical level.
It is so amazing that you can formalize problems that are so abstract that your mind just can't grasp them into a language that makes them comprehensible. And not only that. You can work on these problems and reach levels of realization beyond your ability to visualize or understand by plain thought. Problems in more dimensions than your mind is capable of processing... It's not only practical it's freakin' cosmic. Math is a kind of key to extrapolation of natural laws and therefore a key to a higher level of understanding...
