I spend too much money at that store as is, & I always seem to miss their sale periods. Alas, I couldn't go since I had work the following morning, but it would've been funny running into you. Interesting indeed

Alright, so Metalhaven is this store in Chicago... A great store, a metal Mecca really. In the name of Satan, they held a sale that began at the strike of midnight, and was supposed to go for 2 hours, with everything 50% off. Me and my compadre were on the road, heading that way at 12:00AM, cuz work impeded our plans as such... Still, I did not expect there to as many people as there were. John and I ended up being the last two suckers in the place, but, that happened later. We get there, see this line of a 100+ "jackoff posers," as John angrily called them, and make our way to the back. Tailing the line are a pack adorned in Trivium shirts, and other assorted "I am gay" certifications... "You guys in line?" "Yeah." -We proceed to blatantly cut in front of them.- -They do nothing.- Then I was re-united with some old HS running buddies, a lot of 6-7 I actually knew, the rest being familiar faces, which provided more cutting oppertunities. Mark, the owner of the store came out in his Satan get up, and assured us all that things were moving fast. Hahahahah, yeah right. Anyway, it ended up being a 6 hour wait to get in, which allowed some bonding time with fellow M-heads, and there was plenty of Varg sympathy going around, and lots of laughs. Cops kept pulling up close, and giving the crowd evil glares, until finally one squad pulled up, and over his speaker said... "When I get, anyone not wearing a Slayer shirt is going to jail!!" ...which was especially funny, because he had someone cuffed in the backseat. >= ) Anyway, it was a standing marathon, that's for sure, but it was cool shooting the breeze with all the fans, and even the posers. Actually, fuck the posers. Few other cool moments, haha, shits bound to happen with 100+ metalheads bored insane for 6 hours. |

It was pretty cool, talking with the other nutjobs crazy enough to stand out there til whatever hour of the morning... then again, it wasn't fun leaning on a parking meeted teetering into sleep when the birds started chirping at 5-ish. 50/50 night. I would've posted the news about the sale on the forum, but I'm at work too much lately. Sorry. However, if you're short on cash, this would have been your sale. For 7 cds, 50 bucks. I woulda spent more, the posers hardly touched what I was looking for, but I needed dough for future endeavors... ie, I fucked myself by getting shit on eBay right before the sale. :cry: At some point, a drunk guy with a Polish accent, and a bare chest wandered into the congregated buyers, and he kept leaning on people, and asking what was going on... "A sale." "A wha?" "A sale." "Sale? Sale for what?" "Music." "Drapes?" ... They only come out at night. I had work the next day too, never really got to sleep, cept in the car on my balled fist. Anyway, would've been interesting, indeed indeed, I'm sure we would've found SOMETHING to talk about.

Yeah, Aaron stepped into the store for a minute once. I think he got scared, though, because he spent most of his time outside. Sacred place, no wonder it rejected his impure blood... :-P My only regret is that I didn't take down some phone numbers, or emails, because I met some stonecold diehards I wouldn't mind rolling with in the future. Oh well, they know where I work in Glenview, I told em I could hook them up big time with my big 15% discount. Awwww yeah! :? |
