I was going to leave it at that, but I felt y'all deserved a little more of an explanation. For quite a while now, the forum has been getting worse, in my view, even before Stefan left. It's quite obvious the team don't put a great deal of time into the place; how else do you explain trolls like Arthur and Leee getting away with it? Nothing against them, I know how busy Mike is, but I don't want to spend my time arguing with cretins like Leeee. Again, nothing against them, I don't want to be the cause of a huge flamewar on the topic. Things run smoothly enough, I suppose.
As it is, I've been planning on leaving for a while now, only being held back by wanting to stay in touch with a few of you. Since the majority of those no longer posts here, for whatever reasons, I really don't see the point of sticking around much longer. Why should I stay when it's quite obvious the only result will be a huge flamewar with Leee? If it isn't obvious that the guy needs to go, it never will be, and I've had enough of wasting my breath on things that no-one else cares about/can be bothered putting into words.
Even ignoring Leee, things with a certain other poster came to a head recently. I don't want to turn this into a popularity contest - this is much more his forum than it is mine. I missed the chance to be a part of it, and I've moved on. Hopefully he'll step out from the shadows and assume his former position, and I hope everything goes well for him. I do like him, deep down, but we never got on, and we never will. There's too much of my time put into this place to turn it into a permanent battlefield, and I apologise to everyone frustrated that it was going that way. I also apologise to the man himself for not being able to make it work. Whoever was wrong, we both were to blame for making the situation the way it was, and I'm sorry for my part in it. I hope you bear no grudges, I certainly don't...
No doubt a few of you are already typing the dreaded 'attention whore' words into the reply box. I think I've proved I'm not over the months, and if that's your only response then so be it...
This place has given me a lot. I joined a while back, convinced that Rage Against The Machine was the best band in the world, and it was amazing how quickly that changed. Each and every single one of you has helped me and my musical journey, and I want to thank all of you for that. Shouts out especially to Aaron, Daniele (sorry again about the S.O.P!), Dogan, Skartasis, Misha, Astaroth and the other Black/Deathers for increasing my knowledge tenfold in that area, and Craig, Nessie, Eyesore and the rest of the Power Metal Fags for making me one with the dragon. Apologies to anyone I've missed there.
In general terms, a lot of you have been great friends, and I want to thank Charles, Dogan, Aaron, Kayla, Craig, Misha, Rhys, Caleb, Wanky/Tlaloc (what is your real name??) Pete, Eli/David and Quinten for being themselves and making me smile on a daily basis. I could write paragraphs about each of you, but it would take forever, and you all know my email address. I will be cross if any of you lose touch, that's a promise. And the same goes for anyone I haven't got to know yet - none of you are my enemies. How many messageboards can you say that about?
I've put a lot of time and attention (and love) into this place - 10000 posts should be proof enough of that - and I really hope it grows stronger without me.
