You son of a bitch!

how did you swing that?
And Turisas...bleh...I enjoyed them alright, but I think the hype is a bit much. For folk Metal I thought Ensiferum were easily better. I was delighted at how well Petri handled the old songs. And the clean/choir vocals by Marcus and....the bass guy  ..... are just so
cool! What can I say, I guess I prefer to hear more guitar in my folk metal - like folk melodies played on guitar rather than the bits Turisas do that are just folk music with heavy rhythms. But I still enjoyed them (insane violin solo!).
Anyway, my recap of Friday (Saturday to follow later, when I have more time):
Pyramaze - I was almost asleep on my feet. Not anything against the band but I was literally 36 hours without sleep and I was yet to hit my second wind.
Rage - awesomes! I knew very little of their stuff, but wow! Very cool.
Nocturnal Rites - great gig. I could have done with more songs from the first three albums, but they were still great. They didn't play my favourite song from the new album, sadly, or Avalon, but they were great. Met them afterwards, nice guys. Even if Jonny seemed to have pretty weird amneisa regarding that UK tour with Nevermore a few years ago that got cancelled.
Aetheist - I was sort of impressed/confused. The sound wasn't great (apparently their equipment didn't show up that morning) and while I wanted to stick around my friends didn't. I guess I'm still too much of a DM n00b to have fully appreciated them. But the bass player was INSANE!
Metal Church - fuckin' fantastic. They really blew me away. Ronny Munroe absolutely kills. I must do more listening to these lads.
Edguy - a little disappointing. Not very tight, and Sammett isn't the best live singer, but the biggest disappointment was the song selection, and the behaviour of the bawbags in the crowd. I swear I was one of maybe three guys in the crowd that knew the lyrics to Babylon and Vain Glory Opera. :?
