What I want to know is, how do people let themselves get so fat? Do they not notice that their clothes are getting tight? Do they not look in the mirror and notice they have a double or triple or quadruple chin? Hell, if I hit 150 pounds, I'm freaking out and going on a diet...I can't imagine people being 300 pounds and still not realising that they need to lose weight.

I sort of understand how you get fat, just eating a bunch without self control, but I eat when I'm hungry and I weight fucking like 120 (my metabolism = super fast :)). So I guess maybe I don't...

Its kind of weird because there was this fat girl at our school who actually thought she had a healthy diet when she would do stuff like eat the icing off of someone elses napkin when we got free cake at school one day.

Yeah, much of it has to do with one's upbringing. When I was younger my parents didn't make much of an effort to curb my continual weight gain. My dad's obese and I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I was 315 lbs. at age 15, had high blood pressure and was borderline diabetic. Once I saw the reading on the scale I knew I had to do something. So I started eating better and working out and lost 104 lbs. Suprisingly, it wasn't as hard as most people make it out to be. But I know it's different for everyone.

There are a lot of factors that contribute to one's weight. A friend of mine is quite heavy, mostly as a result of a thyroid problem she takes medication for, for example. Also, not everyone is blessed with noodles' metabolism - I can gain five pounds by looking at a cookie. In America, lots of people don't cook for themselves, and often end up consuming a lot more sugar than they want, or even think they're eating (look at ingredient labels; high fructose corn syrup is in fucking everything, even stuff like croutons). There are psychological factors, too...suffice to say, it ain't that simple.

:? Weight has always been a problem for me. In 4th grade (age 10) I went to the doctor and she freaked out at my weight, so she suggested I actually do a sport, so I started swimming and actually went down to normal weight, but in 7th grade (age 13), I broke my ankle ice skating and was in a cast for 2.5 months. Needless to say without the exercise I gained 80 pounds. I had always hated swimming and did nothing until 9th grade (age 15), at which point I joined waterpolo. Now for two years it's been a struggle to keep a healthy diet and exercise everyday. It's much more difficult in highschool to practice everyday.

I'm not making excuses for myself, it's my own fault I got to be overweight, but atleast I'm not obese, and I actually do exercise 3 hours a day. I actually acheived 2nd in the state last year with my waterpolo team.

i'm no fan of overweight people but coming from a family with on one side people called elephants and on the other, holocaust victim looking people, i can say some people just can't be blamed for being fat. One of my best friends is really REALLY fat but he is always been like that, and he eats normally, he lays of the sweets, yet he will not lose a pound. Does he have to die, Zad?

Well, I do go over the top a bit. But the only fat person I've ever got on with had some intestinal problem that contributed to his weight. EVERY SINGLE fat person I've ever met is the same: smelly, rude, ignorant and selfish. It's as if putting on the pounds changes their personality. I'm sure there are nice fat people out there; pity I've never met any.

Most fat people are fat because they eat too much and exercise too little. Maybe some are taking medications that make them gain weight or have a thyroid problem or whatever. But the simple fact remains that they still could lose weight just by changing their lifestyle habits. If you're a few pounds overweight because of some kind of condition you have, that's one. Being 100+ pounds overweight and blaming it on a condition is bullshit. If you're so fat the hospital can't accomodate you, some of that is most definitely your fault.

I guess people just need to decide if they'd rather eat like a pig and be fat and unhealthy, or exercise some self-control and be thin and feel a lot better. I think a lot of people who are fat don't really want to lose weight. If they did, they'd make more of an effort. I speak from experience.

Some people are just made to be bigger. But, there is a world of difference between being overweight and being a fucking land whale. There is no excuse for being obese, period. Stop shoving Big Macs down by the gulpfull.

My favorite moment of working a summer job at McDonald's:

Me:Helllo, how may I help you?
Manatee: I'll have a 20 piece Chicken McNugget Meal, supersized.
Me:OK, anything else?
Manatee:Also, an Apple Pie, with Vanilla Ice Cream on top.
Me:OK, and what wouild you like to drink with that?
Manatee: A Diet Coke.

Yeah, that Coke is what's making you fat. This happened several times a day.
