I have a story. As I walked into my local FYE (I was bored and felt like buying some CDs), I saw some very ghetto-fabulous people standing around at the entrance.

Before I knew it, one of them handed me a square promo for Willie Joe. They were saying "Yo, maaan, Willie Joe is hea fo' today sellin' his awbum. Check it out, yo, he sittin' right ova dea."

The lead me to a table where the fabled Willie Joe sat. As I approached, he noticed me wearing my Nevermore shirt, and said "Neva mo'. Dass a coo' band, yo."

I didn't really know what to say, so I said "...yeah."

Then he asked me for my name. I told it to him. He signed that promo thingy. It reads:

2! Matthew

Stay cool!

(signiature)

I... don't know what to think.

You should think the guy was cool, you should take the promo and give it to someone who may enjoy it, unless you like it.

It's all about supporting the artists.

That's probably what I'm gonna do. I'm not too big on Rap.

I'm not too big on Willie Joe, to be honest. I can't deal with the "nigga" this, "nigga" that sort of rap. I kind of feel like a tard listening to that sort of thing.

That's what they were playing at the FYE the whole time I was there. I found what I wanted and got out as fast as I could.

I remember when Run DMC started that shit, I was sad. Gone were the days of "You Be Illin'" and "Ragtime."

Run DMC with Aerosmith I thought was ok, but it got boring quickly.

Run DMC were awesome up until Crown Royal! Back From Hell is also a weak album, they tried to a more modern rap sound in the early 90's and failed. There are some good songs on it, though.

NWA and the Ghetto Boyz were the only shit I could ever stand. I like some Dre and Snoop and 2Pac as well because had a GF that was into all of that shit. Eminem can be angry as fuck too.

The above two though they were like good extreme metal. Especially the Ghetto Boyz who could give any late 80's early 90's Death Metal band a run for the money in brutality. Check out "Mind of a Lunatic" if you don't believe me....

The first Snoop and Dre albums are classic, dude! Eazy-E is awesome, too. I also like Ice Cube and DMX because I like their voices. DMX would sound badass in a rapcore band! Hahaha.

My favorite kind of rap, however, is old school stuff like Run DMC and Eric B. & Rakim, the early 90s stuff like House Of Pain, Cypress Hill and Funkdoobiest and then stuff like Kottonmouth Kings, bands that mix it up like they do with rap and punk. Nappy Roots also kick ass.

Eminem is really good, too, but he's getting old now, rehashing all the same shit. OK, dude, you love your daughter and hate/love your wife. I get it, now shut the fuck up about it!!

I listen to rap all the time because my friend is constantly playing it through speakers when we're out. A lot of it I don't like but some of the shit with good basslines and funny lyrics can be cool.

I used to listen to Rap a lot a couple years ago, but since then, I have just lost interest in it. I still hold respect for Tupac, though. He was an amazing rapper and he definitely, in my opinion, had a message that everyone, despite their tastes, needs and deserves to hear.
I cannot stand more contemporary rap music, the kind that has become extremely commercialized, and lost a message altogether. I would much rather listen to Tupac or Wycleaf Jean over Yung Wun or T.I. anyday.

Dr. Dre' and a little Snoop now and then can be good, too.
