Post subject:  Metal Sculpture
Now that I have a digital camera, I thought I'd share some of my sculpture. Both of these projects were inspired in part or whole by metal. This first one took me most of last semester to make, and is now in the school library. It's a little over five feet, one inch tall (our prof decided that our projects had to be as tall as the shortest person in the class - guess who that was?) and it's called "Trail of Insects".

This is one I just did. The assignment was to take ten objects, do something to all ten, set one aside, do something to the remaining nine, set one aside, so on and so forth.

I like both, actually. Is the vase protected so the ink won't wear off?

The sculpture looks cool, too.

Nah, it was just something I did in a weekend for an assignment, so I'm not terribly concerned about it. I'll probably get rid of all but the last vase (what am I going to do with nine vases full of wax and doll's heads, after all?) at the end of the semester.

The words on the vase are all snippets of lyrics. It starts off with thrash at the top ("UNLEASH THE BASTARDS DESTROY THE MASTERS MODULISTIC TERROR DISMEMBERED DESTINY...") and ends with gore and pornogrind at the bottom ("...RENAL CERTATIONS FAECAL GURGITATIONS COMPLETE ANAL DISGOREMENT..."). The whole thing is about femininity, masulinity, gender and personal identity and my own experiences and personality.
