Isn't it the funniest movie of all time?

I borrowed the DVD from a friend of mine and saw it yesterday ... you just can't beat scenes like Tim the Enchanter, the bridge of death, The Castle of Aaaaaargh and the guards misunderstanding "You stay here, and make sure he doesn't leave the room" ...

yeah.. bought this movie a few weeks ago myself :D

I love when John Cleese is running towards the castle to save "the princess" and the guards can see his far far away in the horizont without getting anywhere... And 2 sec later... BAM!!! he's up close and he starts killing anyone in his way, kicking the groom in the stomach etc in high-Benny-Hill-speed style  best part in the movie :dio:

That's a hell of a movie, one of the best comedies ever. Monty Pythons were geniuses (maybe they still are) and they created a few masterpieces!

They don't make 'em like this anymore! It's a brilliant movie! Indeed, if it's not the greatest comedy of all time, it's top three!!

Monty Python is simply the best thing to ever happen to comedy. This and Life of Brian are among my favourite movies ever; and thats not to mention all the hilarious skits from Flying Circus.

Am I the only one that doesn't think this was that great? I mean, yeah, the midieval satire stuff is funny to some point but some parts are just so retarded. I fell asleep the second time I saw it...

"How do you know she is a witch?"
"Aw, she turned me into a newt!"
"A newt?"
"I got better."

No, I know a lot of people that hate Monty Python. The just can't get into it. It all depends on your sense of humor. I love really, really off-the-wall nonsense, thus Monty Python appeals to me because that's essentially what it was. But the greatest thing about Monty Python is that even though it was completely ridiculous and over-the-top, it is easily some of the most intelligent and brilliant comedy ever done.

British comedy KO1 all other comedy.

It gets very over-quoted, and is generally liked by some of the most annoying, nerdish fuckwits you ever could encounter, but is genius despite that.

It's not as good as Life Of Brian, if you'd ask me. So second funniest movie of all times

Ugh yep thats freaking annoying.

But then again, I used to overquote it why I was a nerdish fuckwit, so I can understand. Still an amazing movie. I maintain that John Cleese is the funniest man in history.

The silly walks skit sums it all up for Cleese.

What this dude said. And I also think Clerks or maybe Office Space is the funniest movie of all time.

Personally I don't think being the funniest movie ever is much of an accomplishment because somehow TV shows are way better at being funny... (eg. south park, simpsons, futurama, the colbert report, and to a lesser extent family guy)

Him and Rowan Atkinson—another comedic genius—made Rat Race hilarious, in my opinion. Without them two that movie would have been a standard, mediocre comedy at best.

I thought Rat Race was great. Rowan Atkinson is absolutely hilarious--one of my favorite comedy actors ever, though he's made a few bombs of late.

He used to be better . Not The Nine O'Clock News, Blackadder... And Rat Race was awful, when you have a cast of comics like that, you DO NOT just make them run around pulling stupid faces.

I prefer Life of Brian, but the Holy Grail is awesome too! I've been thinking of getting the Monty Python box set with Meaning of Life, Life of Brian and the Holy Grail.
