From the 18th->28th of January I'll be in the states. Trying to find
something fun doing while I'm there. I'll be busy the first weekend
(19->21) apart from that I'm up for many stupid things.

I'll be in the Washington DC area, but I'm pondering driving somewhere.
Anyone know of any good gigs? (remember, I like my metal death).
Good bars? Anything?

Cool! I wish I could help, but I'm stuck in corn land.

I've been to D.C. before...pretty much the thing to do there is go to the museums. Sounds kinda lame, I know, but it's actually pretty cool and they're some of the best museums in the world. I don't much in the way of bars and gigs though--I was probably 11 or 12 when I went there :D.

I've lived there for five years, seen most of the museums. I wanna
see some fun shows and get too drunk. :P

If you've got a car available, Jaxx in Springfield, VA is the best place to go for shows. http://www.jaxxroxx.com/ If you want to check out local record shops, Strangeland Records in Annandale, VA opened this past January and has a surprisingly amazing selection. It's also located in the building that used to house Annandale Small Arms Range, where my high school rifle team practiced and competed (I was extremely upset this past summer to discover that the range had been kicked out by the building's owner, the bastard). Other than that, DC isn't a very metal area. There's some cool stuff in Georgetown and DuPont Circle, but it's more for the hipster crowd. I'd go to the Hirshhorn Museum (my favorite art museum, you should go just to see the big man) and the Natural History Museum, and the Aeronautics and Space Museum is always cool.

EDIT: Hah, you beat me to the museum thing. Well, if you haven't seen the big man at the Hirshhorn, you should go again. He's amazing.

Isn't DC a big ghetto? I've only been through the airport and hotels there for no more than a night and each time I was warned to basically not go out alone.

Thanks for the tips. As I posted above, I've lived in the states, so
I'm very familiar with Jaxx(no shows :(). I'll be going back to Georgetown
which had some cool shops when I lived there.

The Strangeland Records shop I haven't been too, I'll have to
check it out!

Yeah. Imagine the worst area of Springfield multiplied by a factor of ten, and make an entire city out of it.
