Well, by the end of the month, the Nintendo Wii and PS3 will be out. So what are everybody's thoughts on the upcoming next-gen wars? Especially with the X-Box 360 already being out for roughly one year.

hmmm... i think i'll wait a while to see how things go (games, sales, etc.) and then decide which one to buy.

i used to buy only Nintendo but i was EXTREMELY disappointed with the gamecube and i'm not making that mistake again. the Wii has that wonderful controler but i hope they don't go overboard and make a player use only that, i hope they let a player use the regular controler as well, at least when that's possible.

the ps3 is expensive and looks like a way to force the blue-ray into the market. besides, everyone i know with a PS2 bought at least 2 of them, since they suck and stop working all the time. and the controller is absolute shit too.

at this point i'm undecided between the 360 and the Wii.

but the PS is the "coolest" console over here and that could get people to not worry about the price. that's one thing nintendo always fucks up, they only create hype with the more dedicated videogame fans, so the majority often never even considers buying their console.

In terms of processing power, speed ... who wins in a battle between PS3 and a really top PC ? I know a top notch PC would cost A LOT more, but it has its advantages too.

By the way, the only thing that will make me get a PS3 is a full remake of Final Fantasy VII.

I'm camping out in front of best buy with some friends to buy a Wii on the day it comes out. None of the games I really want for it come out until march, but I figure it's very unlikely that there'll be a price drop in that time so I might as well get it now, while I can. As for PS3, as cool as it is, I already have a computer. All I want is something to play games on while waving my arms around frantically.

Ps3 for me, with games like Metal Gear Solid 4, two new Final Fantasy games, and probably another Silent Hill, this console is the one that convince me the most, even if it is a liittle more expensive than the others, its really a fine piece of technology, although i will have to admit that i wont be buyin it right away, i will wait a while and compare it with the other consoles.

If I were to buy a next console system, it would be a Wii. Graphics are nice, but I think the new controller mechanic is much more interesting (plus the graphics really are good; just not X Box 360 or PS3 quality). Plus, it has the strongest lineup for me thus far: Zelda: Twilight Princess (ie: what may be the best game ever made, though I'm getting this for Gamecube), Red Steel, Call of Duty 3, Metroid Prime 3 (all first person shooters can be amazing with the new control mechanic), Madden 07 (same), Mario Galaxies, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Splinter Cell, etc.... Gamecube's main problem was lack of third party support; Wii isn't going to be suffering from this. Plus, Wii is the cheapest. And plays all Gamecube games. And will eventually have access to nearly every single Nintendo and Sega game ever released.

Second choice would be X-Box 360. This one does have the great graphics, like the PS3. It also at this point has a great number of good games for it, most particularly the new game Gears of War, which is supposed to be one of the best games of the year so far. Its also far cheaper than the Playstation 3, which is a big bonus in their favour.

Last choice is the PS3. Insanely expensive due to Blue-Ray technology which nobody really uses yet and which you need huge tvs to take advantage of: This thing is fucking expensive. I don't want to spend 700 bucks on a system, which doesn't even come with a free game (as the Wii and the 360 do). Games themselves are more expensive than the 360's and the Wii's, and their lineup at the moment is horrible: All the good games coming out for the PS3 at launch are also coming out, or have come out for XBox 360, and Wii (hell, even Metal Gear Solid is now coming to the Wii). The only reason worth staying for is Final Fantasy; still, FF isn't worth 700 bucks. I would prefer to buy a PS2 and just play FFX and FFXII, which I haven't played yet. It really is dissapointing, because PS2 was such a good system (probably the best of the last generation, and this is coming from a Nintendo fanboy dick).

Yep, so Wii it is for me (for now). After I've worked my way through Chrismtas break and have added some more cash to my bank account so I don't feel guilty about spending money, I'll check all the reviews and see if I actually want to buy any of them. PS3 really just looks like it ain't getting my money, though.

I'm going with the revolution (why the fuck did they change the name form the cool, revolution, to the gay, wii???? wtf??? They might aswell have called it the piss cube or the urine box) that control has so much potential for FPS. But the ps3 has some good games coming out for it too so not sure yet.

I'd like a 360. I am addicted to Oblivion, but I can never play it b/c it's my brother's and it's at my parent’s house.

Changing the name to the "wii" was a brilliant marketing move. As soon as the name released, everyone was talking about it. All press is good press, and Nintendo had everybody focusing on the Wii before they had even released any information on it.

Oblivion is coming out for PS3.. with about 30 hours of new stuff and a whole new guild.

Anyways, what I want the most is definatly the PS3 mainly because it has all my games: Metal Gear, Grandia, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Dark Cloud. Plus I'll be able to play all the games I already own and continue to have my ps1 and ps2 library grow, which is a plus. The price however is a huuuuuuge turnoff, I will not be buying a PS3 until at least a year or so after its released.

Also, one thing people have to realize about the PS3 is that Sony has said that they plan to have the PS3 last on the market for like 10 (not 5 like the rest) years wheras the Xbox 360 and Wii never mentioned a thing about that, so when you think of that, the price doesnt seem all THAT bad.. Assuming a sony console can last 10 years, lol.

Anyways, Im getting a Wii. Buying Zelda, Sonic and Mario.. No interest in any other games yet, I hate quirky mini-game games (hence why the DS is shit in my eyes) and I have a huge dislike for FPS games so Im not really excited about Red Steel or any others. But the price is right and Zelda looks hella sweet.

I like the name "Wii." It sounds very "technological" and "modern."

If you think that was bad, you should see what Nintendo was briefly rumored to title the GameCube before settling on the final name: the "StarCube." As bad as people think the final name of the system is, let's just be grateful Nintendo didn't settle on a name like that.

Anyway, I'm with Brahm in saying that the Wii is probably the system that interests me most right now. Particularly, Zelda: Twilight Princess and Super Mario Galaxies are two games I'm looking forward to. And contrary to how a lot of other people feel, I think the GameCube was a good system. It did have some excellent first and second party games (even if most were simply retreads of the Mario, DK and Zelda franchises). PS2 was a better system (even though most of its good games didn't really come until about nine months after its launch), but the Cube still gets frequent playtime from me.

I'm getting a Wii for sure, it's price is reasonable and it's fully compatible with my gamecube games, controllers and memory.

The new controller system is awesome and the will also have a classical controller for other games who do not use the wiimote.

I agree with Seinfeld gamecube was agreat system with really good exclusive games like:

- Eternal Darkness
- Resident Evil 4
- Tales of Symphonia
- Baten Kaitos
- Baten Kaitos Origins
- Zelda the windwaker
- Soul Calibur (with Link character)
- Naruto Clash of ninja 2 (great fighter with possibilty of 4 players)
- Mario Kart Double Dash

i think Nintendo was very smart in naming it the Revolution first ("oh my god, revolution, what are they planning?") and then the Wii. at least the more dedicated gaming crowd had their eyes on them.

as for the GameCube, the first/second party games were excellent, as is usual with Nintendo, but calling the third party support COMPLETE SHIT would be an overstatement.
games like GTA:SA, the Burnout series (after Burnout 2), Pro Evolution Soccer, etc. never came out on the gamecube despite being available on every other platform. nintendo should've at least tried to get those games on their console.

I'm back from...guess what? A gaming festival/convention ! I got to try the Wii out for 15 minutes after some wait.

Not 1 hour. Not 2. Not 3. But FOUR freaking hours. But it was well worth it. I tried the new zelda. The good news is that the new controller is really responsive for a motion sensing thingie.

My Wii is already paid since 2 months, no doubt on what I'll get :D

Lucky you, I couldn't pre-order the damn thing, I guess i'll have to wait cause it's totally out of the question for me to wait in line to purchase the system on Nov 19th. Anyhow I'm not in a rush.
