What do you find most attractive in a potential mate?

I, for one, answered honestly and put good looks. Though I do care about brains and personality a lot.

If you're looking for a POTENTIAL mate (which means she's not your mate YET), you'll always put the good-look first. Once you have found someone with acceptable looks, then you will move on to her personality and her brain. If the latter doesn't fit you, you try someone else. But I think the good-looking barrier is the first to be passed.

BTW ... Isn't it a bit odd to vote "Good sex"? If you have sex with the girl, she's not a potential mate, she IS your mate!

Anyone who votes for anything other than good looks is either:

A. lying to impress said potential mate
B. a supremely fairy-fied ass clown

Yeah it is a combo of looks/attraction. A good personality, etc works hand in hand with how someone looks and acts though. If a chick is a cunt it makes her ugly. Either that or I am just getting old so as long as someone just likes me it is probably ok.

Depends if you mean attractive "want to have a long term relationship with" or attractive "want to have sex with".

I also agree with leee on this one, if a really hot girl opens her mouth and spews some retard babble American idol insanity I probably won't think about having sex with her after that.

But that doesn't mean I'd be attracted to a total airhead if she was good looking. There's a lot more to it than that.

Pffft! I voted personality. Surely I don't seek out women who are not super attractive, but I actually once dated a girl who wasn't all that good-looking. At first it was a bit weird, but she was so cool eventually it didn't matter. I totally dug her, and was attracted to her.

I'll take a not-so-hot chick with a great personality over a hot chick that's a douchebag any day of the week. I have no time for drama in my life! Haha. Of course, everyone is attracted to looks first and foremost, but I honestly think a great personality is the number one requirement. I draw the line with an ugly woman, though. Not sure I could manage that one. Haha.

I once went to a Kottenmouth Kings concert to sleep with this hot ass chick in high school. And she was fucking somkin HOT! She was a total bitchy ass air head, but I wanted to "tap that shit" (used this expression in high school a lot). So if you were to ask me five years ago, I just wanted to get laid by a good looking chick. Now, I'm married, but I'd still want to get laid by a good lookin chick. Looks.

That's pretty much what I assumed. I understand what you're saying, as I would make small sacrifices in looks for a woman that is a 10 in every other category. I still stand by looks, though. When I went to a bar in my single days, I didn't think things such as, "Hey, I'm gonna go hit on that wildebeast looking woman, I bet she has a great personality!"

In the way that I understand potential mate for me the most important characteristic that can keep me attracted and in love is good personality. A close second comes good looks but I can imagine myself easier being with a moderately pretty woman with a very good personality than the other way around. Third is ofcourse good brains. Stupid girls might be fun but I've been for a long time with a woman who's very clever and after the first period of anxiety and confusion, one realizes that it's a great feeling to be with someone just as (or maybe even more) clever than himself.

One night stand type crap I can understand looks come first and definately when you first see someone its the looks. But Im gonna go with Personality and sense of humour mainly because of a friend of mine, I first met her through another friend and thought she was pretty damn ugly, but after knowing her for about a year her personality started just shining through, I looked forward to each meeting and became very attracted to her.

Edit - Also, a good taste in music is a plus. With all girls I find myself attracted too in life, hearing them talk about metal (good metal) makes them so much hotter.

I find myself becoming attracted to very ugly males. Before I get to know them, I definitely would not be attracted to them. But I've found that when I do get to know them, and if they're nerdy, addicted to the intranets, intelligent, and like the same type of music as I do. They become veeeery cute.

You see someone, and you make a judgement about them. Then you talk to them, and based on personality how attractive they are goes up or down.

For example, if you see a smoking hot chick form a distance then you talk to her and shes an utter bimbo, then she becomes ugly to you.

Or if you see a girl that is 'ugly', purely based on looks, but then you get to know her and she has a really great personality, then she becomes beautiful to you and looks dont even matter.




Basically its random luck because you have to combine a first impression based on looks with the more important aspect of personality. So youll let the most wonderful girl ever go because she isnt physically the greatest.......
