Ok, so this past monday I bought a 360 elite at EB but didn't really cough up 60 bucks for a one year warranty..I'm just worried because I've heard of so many things going wrong with the system and I don't want to become the victim of it because its so damn expensive. So my question is, is it really as buggy as everyone says?

I've had the standard version for well over a year now and I've had exactly zero problems. Besides, if it starts dying on you and you call Microsoft and/or EB Games and raise hell, one of them will either repair it or give you a new one.

You, regular american. Would you pay 15% of your salary in ONE XBOX360 GAME?

huh? how much does a game cost there?

in Portugal gamecube games went for 50-70€. complete fucking ripoff! i remember seeing wave race: blue storm (which came out in like 2002 or 2003) for 60 euros just the other day!!

"platinum" games (or their equivalents) are cheaper, but not that much.

Well I recently dished out $150 dollars for Guitar Hero II and two controllers. Definately worth it though.

It's not the absolute value I'm concerned here, it's the relative price compared to your country's normal average salary for a 30-year-old worker.

XBOX 360 games here in Brazil cost about US$150. The thing is, the average salary here for a 30-year-old person should be like US$1500. Of course I'm ignoring people below the poverty line. Anyway, bottom line is : games here cost 10 to 15% of a person's salary. How the hell are we supposed to keep purchasing original games ?? Games here are not even overpriced, they are hyper-ultra-priced. I had to hack my drive and download games from the internet.
