 Post subject: Time for an upgrade

In order to deal with spambots and stevebots, I suggest putting more effort into the technical underpinnings of this site.

It might solve the spambots but it wouldn't solve issues like Steve. All he has to do is grab another proxy and he's back.

The only way to deal with both types is make it to where new members must be approved by the admins before acceptance. That's how some forums do it.

still likely requires an upgrade .. looks like they are using phpbb 2.02 from 2002 :omfg: .. would it even support that?

I imagine the problem still exists that whoever built the website and linked the forum to it is no longer around to do upgrades, and it's rather involved so any dummy with some HTML skills can't hang.
