Actually, it would be pretty cool to have a 'plug your local bands' thread going. And until that happens (and because I'm bored) I'm going to co-opt this one for it. So here's Glasgow's finest:

Argonath - Melodic Black Metal - I can imagine some people saying Norsecore (but I'm not too sure what that is exactly) since there are some clean vocals - cheesy warrior vocals - and quite a bit of Maiden-style melody.

Achren - Thrashy Black Metal - these guys are a lot more aggressive and trve (only recently added a bass player for the first time).

Attica Rage - Groovy Power Metal I'm afraid that's the best I can do for a description. Falling into the Nevermore/Morgana Lefay bracket without really sounding like either.

Syth - Power Metal - I've already plugged these guys before but I figured I should include them for completeness sake. Soon to release their self-produced debut full-length.

Attica Rage - Sry, but I didn't really like it. The second EP was better though, and there I could hear some of those Morgana Lefay influences you mentioned. I think it was mostly due to the vocalist: too clean voice, not any substance in it :( ...Cool logo though \m/

Syth - Well, this was slightly better, ie. it was power metal thus the faster pace kept me interested. The vocalist was bit better too, but suffered from the same thing as the previous one. The song clips were quite short so I can't say anything definite about them (although I DO prefer short clips, but not too short! :D )

Forgot one:

Dionysus - sort of started out as a would-be symphonic BM band before turning into some weird Black/Power hybrid:

God...that was awful.

But thanks to Radagast this thread was not a total waste. Achren rocks.

I'll tell them to pre-pack your copy of the album.

[I swear I should be getting paid for this obnoxious promotion. I think I've found the first band I'm a fanboy of.]

Forgot another local band:
15 Times Dead - crap name, decent old school/thrash sound
