This will be out in 2009, but anyway: new Saxon leaked and it's what heavy metal is all about :dio:

Demon Sweeney Todd is such a furious killer track, it's hard to believe it's written by people in their late 50s.

New Hieronymous Bosch is so fucking good. I heard the new Leviathan sucks compared to the other two so I've avoided it.

Why oh why did Devy produce the new Becoming the Archetype album?! He seemed to rejuvenate Gwar yet this album is just so lackluster. Never heard any of their other stuff so maybe they just suck but I don't think it was worth his time. You can definitely notice his influences in a few tracks. The lyrics are so lame.

So the new Leviathan is interesting but nothing spectacular. I've only really loved Howl Mockery at the Cross by Wrest. Album isn't too bad though.

new Becoming the Archetype was kinda disappointing. it had some cool stuff but i was hoping for more clean vocals since the ones on Physics of Fire were so great, and that seems like the direction Devy would push them in. listening to any of their three albums mainly makes me think that they have the potential for an amazing album, but with each one it becomes less and less likely that they'll make it.

Give it more and more spins, it's a grower. I was pretty disappointed when i first heard it being somewhat fanboyish towards Leviathan

Should probably change this to 2009 albums, huh?

New Samael! Not really a fan of their recent stuff, but the new song ("Illumination") sounds promisingly blastbeaty. Might just be the crappy MySpace sample, mind you. Will have to revisit Solar Soul just to assure myself I didn't miss anything.

This is a sort of a tribute album to their black metal days. Actually Above was the name of a side project they were going to do and it saddens me they decided to release it under the Samael banner.

Solar Soul was the best they've released from their industrial era and I thought they were going forward but instead they are taking a step back. Since I'm not a fan of their early days I'll probably hate the new album.

here is the cover for Above:
