When I picked up my copy of Halo: Reach yesterday, Best Buy graciously gave me a $20 gift card. I've been wanting to buy at least one really, really good album this year, something that I'll cherish for years to come, but so far I have no ideas other than an old Spock's Beard album and the new one from Alcest. $20 basically means I can only get one album (with one day shipping if it's cheap enough), so, I'm open to ANY suggestions. Black metal, power metal, progressive rock, ambient, jazz, pop, whatever. If you give me an album suggestion and really sell me on it - as in, praising it to the heavens and citing multiple reasons why I should get it - then I'll check out a couple Youtube clips, and purchase accordingly if I like what I hear. Eager to hear some responses, hopefully I'll discover something new.

Seriously though if you don't have them already:

WASP-The Crimson Idol

Or

WASP-The Headless Children

Have never listened to much WASP. Doing so now, a few select songs from both those albums.

It will become the soundtrack to your life.

Anything from tha classics: Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, etc...

Might go for either that Angel Witch or Reverend Bizarre I. I've been meaning to check out Angel Witch's s/t album for ages, and Rev. Bizarre I is $10 and comes with the "Return to the Rectory" EP, which is incredibly tempting... will have something thinking to do.

And Frigid... sorry, I almost like it, but it's something I'd likely never spend money on.

Lykathea Aflame's Elvenefris. It sounds like nothing else that's out there and at the same time it destroys it all. It's beautiful, crushing, fast, catchy even. And that's just the first song. Absolutely stunning.

I've only listened to Yanqui U.X.O. and wasn't really impressed. Good background music, but little more than that IMO. How does LYSFLATH compare?

It's a pretty basic comparison, really; skinny fists is the best album ever and Yanqui U.X.O is not.

However, if you didn't like Yanqui, then I can't promise you'll like skinny fists. All I know is that it's the best album ever.
