I listen to metal roughly 90% of the time, with the other ten percent being devoted to hardcore, ambient, and my grandpa's old Salsa/Spanish music he bought over the years. I'm getting into a lot of old USPM bands like Warlord, Omen, Cloven Hoof, and Satan's Host as well.

Metal might have a lot of subgenres but the only good ones are doom, sludge and heavy metal.

Since when did heavy metal become a subgenre?

Meant to refer to whatever ecompasses Judas Priest/Slough Feg/Jag Panzer/etc

If you don't like death, black and thrash, then you're denying the essence of metal.

Those genres play too fast which ruins everything that's appealing about metal.(!!) Same deal with power metal.

Yet, countless examples in all those genres (particularly in black) don't play fast.

This is the speed I like my metal at 8-)

I make this distinction. Do other people not? NWOBHM is definitely not conflatable with power metal and hence is just heavy metal.

Agree. Heavy metal is kind of an awkward name for it but I can't think of a better one so yeah.

Probably 75% at the moment (why no 50% option?) but I had to think. Don't really distinguish between metal and non-metal as in, 'oh, now let us put some non-metal on.' It's all music, and which bits I listen to vary hugely day to day.

^ this too. It's either good or bad music and that is all.

I put myself in the 90% group. I love metal, but I sincerely think I'm just too lazy to discover and listen to something else.

90%.

About 6K tracks I care to have around are all old HR, HM or PoM and PrM. And about 1000 really bad pop songs. IDK though, all the bands I like think my tastes in Pop are great though.

What I like is not easy to identify, but a lot of PrM/PoM bands tend to find it as well in metal and pop.

Probably about 75%, though maybe closer to 70 these days. I never don't listen to metal, but I do go through phases where I mainly listen to non-metal- those never last too long though.
