Hey guys

Did you know that The Atlas Moth is really good bluesy-melodic sludge metal with black metal vocals?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9h_au-NweY (album cover in vid NSFW)

yeah. In terms of metal releases I've heard this year, this is up there.

Yeah, I was digging them a month ago.

Haven't decided whether I'm going to purchase the album yet, but it's on my list.

I recommend it, it's definitely very original and there are some parts that make me go "woah" like the chorus in the song I posted. I found it lol-worthy that the idiot at Pitchfork was all like "They do Mastodon better than Mastodon did Mastodon this year" when the bands are pretty much 100% different...although the genre description might have you think otherwise.

Top couple albums in order:

1. La Dispute - Wildlife
2. The Middle East - I Want That You Are Always Happy (I thought this came out ages ago. I've listened to it so much!)
3. Kimbra - Vows
4. Protest the Hero - Scurrilous
5. Puscifer - Conditions on My Parole

Pretty much. Those are the albums I can't stop listening to.

An idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about? I'd say that's classic Pitchfork.

I enjoyed this album, but I probably wouldn't put in my year end list. Something about it just prevents me from really falling in love with it.

It's a lot more than pretty good, imho.
This band manages to mix Slough Feg, Candlemass and Neil Young with a little bit of Baroness. Amazing!

Judging from the cover, it looks relevant to my interests.

...as for Moonsorrow and Septicflesh.
Not far behind Arkona's Slovo.
