I did buy a lot of physical CD´s before, but converted to iTunes a couple of years ago. However, when you´re into a genre such as this, you won´t find everything on iTunes.

So I just started buying again, mainly off of eBay. I expect going back to the normal 30-50 albums per month + the occasional digital products.

Love to hear that :dio:

Mike Amazon has some top sellers which the rating might not always show. "Importcds_" and "Nagiry" are the main two distributors I buy from at Amazon. Import ships right away, while, Nagiry sometimes takes up to 48 hours to ship. Import arrives in maybe a week or so while Nagiry takes a bit longer. I never buy from Amazon directly. I used to in the past but then I discovered these great sellers which have the particular piece of music for much, much cheaper and the shipping is in most cases much faster. I would never consider digital files a collection of any sort. CD's, tapes and now I have discovered and buy the magnificence of vinyl (which is rather expensive compared to CD's).

Thanks for the information. I do appreciate it. I have seen 'Importcds_' on Amazon, in fact I may have bought a few things from them before...I just can't remember. I don't think I've bought anything from Nagiry but I will certainly look into them as well. I've been on the hunt for a few albums that have been released in Europe but not in the US yet (particularly the new Swallow The Sun) so perhaps these sellers will be the answer. Thanks again :)

Anytime, Mike. Glad to help :)

Really I feel buying physical cds is a thing of the past and will eventually die out completely. I feel the same as trapt on the issue. I don't have enough money to buy all the music I want and on top of that, even if I did, I wouldn't really want all the cds lying around wasting space anyways. I think seeing a band live and buying their merch is currently the only way to truly support a band.

Downloading here and there, but I no longer discover new stuff that much, just don't have the time. I'm saving up for a good record player, then I'll start buying vinyl.

There are still thousand upon thousand of shops and records shops in the world today and as many buyers of those albums and records. So "dying out" is not an issue at least in our life time, I would presume. The extinction will be gradual and not sudden.

I sold my 300+ album collection a couple years back when I was broke and I regret it.

Once I get a good job I may start buying albums again but probably not. I'm strapped for cash and I just go to concerts and buy tshirts and drink beer.

I did finally order the new Swallow The Sun album from Nagiry and I was shocked how fast it arrived from Germany to the US. The shipping cost was nominal so I'll definitely buy from them more in the future. Thanks again for the info.

Brick and mortar CD shops will die out but online retailers/distributors will remain. Between Youtube and iTunes I see no need to download anything because between the samples available from iTunes and videos on Youtube they give more than enough info for me to make a decision to buy or not. I don't see the 'need' to illegally download anything while having those options to sample before you buy.

Not a problem. You can't miss with Nagiry nor with Importcds__. Hell, most sellers and I mean 99% of sellers I have had experience with on amazon have all been great.

I thought this article was an interesting take on the situation.

If the price and download quality on offer here was more appealing I might change my ways, but for now I still get an actual CD that sounds better for not much more.

Asking for money for Mp3's unless steeply discounted as a temp item is a complete insult.
