To finally respond to the actual topic at hand, I will say Mercyful Fate. I seriously can't stand King Diamond's singing/screetching (honestly, he sounds like Oscar The Grouch's wife IMO). And the whole NWOBHM-influenced sound just doesn't fit the mythological/occult tales Mercyful Fate are trying to lyrically tell.

Consider the generation that MF and King Diamond are from though.

Youre very very wrong.

But yeah a lot of people doesnt like King Diamond vocals, i personally think that is one of the best things about the band.

Seriously, how could a metal fan not like this album?

By new you mean, the really new one? Because I doubt many people love it. (I hope)

-Anthrax
-Testament
-Nirvana (can't stand the whining)
-Angra
-Falconer
-Rhapsody
-Tad Morose

Perhaps not. But I had to throw it in there anyway. :D

Blasphemy! But seriously now, why don't you like them?
hah, I get that alot. I don't really know. I'm really picky at this kind of music and the vocals are just painfull sometimes. I don''t like the guitarsound neither.

It's not a great album but I personally feel if they perfect the whole black and roll thing ( Like... Fuel For Hatred ) they'd have a really badass thing going.

We'll see what happens with the next album.

I'm all for Rebel Extravaganza and dig Volcano even though it's got some very mediocre songs, but Now Diabolical is the biggest piece of shit sell out album by any metal band. IMO.

10/10 for me... in fact it's my new avatar.
I still have the original cassette from like '84 or so.
The re-mastered version doesn't do it justice; Kings vox sound somehow flat.

I respect Mercyful Fate. I'll give you guys that much. And I do understand their influence and popularity. Plus, they have some pretty good musicians. But the band's whole sound (along with King Diamond's vocals) just doesn't really click with me.

Makes it kind of ironic that I love Iron Maiden, huh?
