I had an 80 GB last me for like 6 years until I dropped it a few weeks back. Now whenever I turn it on it gives me an upside down smiley face telling me to contact support. There's nothing they can do for a 6 year old iPod, so time for a new one. I had like 77 GB of shit on that fucker. Music, movies, picture, all kinds of shit. Gone. Bah. Can't wait for my new one.

I hope you have backed up the 77gb of info Wally. I currently have an iPod touch 32gb, but honestly, 32gb is crap. I've around 300gb of music, so 160gb is more fitting. Btw, next time, buy a hard case, so you can drop it all you like.

I did not back it up... Live and learn I guess. Fortunately I own most of my music, we besides having to rip it all into my laptop, I should have mos of my music back. But the pictures and movies and several gigs of music gone forever.

Dude, aren't all the CDs you previously ripped still on your iTunes? Why would they be lost because you dropped your iPod? They should still be on the PC.

Dude, aren't all the CDs you previously ripped still on your iTunes? Why would they be lost because you dropped your iPod? They should still be on the PC.

That isn't a rule. You can add songs you don't have in your iTunes to your iPod. For example, I have added some stuff to my iPod from other friends computers. Anyway, Wally has his stuff on cd, so that doesn't matter. But the photos dude, the photos... :sad:

I have a old laptop that only has 32 gigs of memory. I can't keep all my music in my iTunes. I have to back the mp3s to flash drives to save the trouble of re ripping

Spread out over 3 computers. One is my brothers now, which I won't touch with a 10 foot poll, the other was formatted for work, and the other being my current laptop that I've tried avoiding loading music onto.

I will pretty much be starting from scratch.
