Death metal in general goes way over my head. Don't know why, I just like my metal to take its foot off the gas every now and then. What a wuss, eh?

I haven't really been able to get into much death metal besides 3-4 bands since the spring >.<

Motorhead haven't really lived up to thier reputation in my book, or Maiden.

Great bands but not "the best" by any stretch of the imagination for either.

well motorhead kicks much ass, but what really makes them legendary ishow they were the first at what they do and punks+metaheads could like them. Its influence versus sheer greatness that makes them who they are.

Death metal doesn't really do much for me either.

Death metal doesn't really do much for me either.

I would go so far as to say i hate death metal, except for a few bands here and there (all of them being melodic death metal bands). Its really not my thing at all.

I pretty much can't stand anything from the 80's that isn't thrash metal or Iron Maiden. Mercyful Fate and Savatage are a couple that I want to check out and think I might like, but bands like Motorhead, Motley Crue, Poison, Van Halen, Accept, or any hard rock from that era just annoys me. The early death metal just sounds primitive and bad to me.

Can't get into Rush due to the vocalist shame as I'm a Neil Peart fan.

Try anything from power windows on. Geddy rarely sang in falsetto

Rush is certainly an acquired taste. I feel the same way at times. Geddy Lee's voice can grate on your ears over time.

BTW Geddy Lee has sang the same way through out Rush' career. He didn't suddenly switch his singing style in the late 80's.
