Just bought tickets to see Evanescence with my daughter. Yes, I know it doesn't compare to the Maiden show but it will be a good evening with my daughter. Evanescence was one of her first concerts with me when they toured for 'Fallen' so I'm looking forward to it :)

I waited on tickets and they just released some seats that were closer than the seats they had previously available. We're taking the boy to see Maiden! Pics to follow as of June 21st :dio:

I've been sampling some Red Fang over on the iTunes. Cool stuff. I dig The Sword so it looks to be a promising show. Plus it works out to be back to back nights of good music June 20th = The Sword/Red Fang and then June 21st = Maiden.

If you're itune-ing it check out Number Thirteen, Wires, Prehistoric Dog, Sharks, those might be my favorite tracks of theirs.

I might go to The Mars Volta in a week or two. Not sure yet. I kinda need the money but I really want to see them but on the other hand I have no idea whether they're actually any good live.

I saw Zaz on Saturday. She was amazing. Surprisingly metal for the last half song, too.

Seems like we're going to get a heavy dose of SSOASS tomorrow night in Charlotte, NC. Maiden released a video this afternoon that details a bit about the tour. They're definitely doing SSOASS, Moonchild, Can I Play With Madness, and they're doing The Prisoner. The stage set is the 1988 SSOASS stage set, so it sounds like it will be great.

I'm sure most of you know already but here's Maiden's set list for the Maiden England tour:

MOONCHILD
CAN I PLAY WITH MADNESS
THE PRISONER
2 MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT
AFRAID TO SHOOT STRANGERS
THE TROOPER
THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST
PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
RUN TO THE HILLS
WASTED YEARS
SEVENTH SON OF A SEVENTH SON
THE CLAIRVOYANT
FEAR OF THE DARK
IRON MAIDEN
ACES HIGH
THE EVIL THAT MEN DO
RUNNING FREE

It was a great fkin' show! I've never seen them use so much pyro/fire in a show before. ATSS was the only song that seemed lost on the crowd and for the life of me I don't know why they chose to play that one with so many better songs to pick from. However, there was nothing like watching my 12 year old screaming 'Run to the hills!' with his fist in the air. :) Alice Cooper = Meh.

Kickass set list! I've seen them only once in Paris, the problem is the hall in which they usually play here has crappy acoustics. Barely listenable.

I love your signature, btw

The guy sitting next to me had brought his wife and by looking at him I thought that he was close to my age. Maybe 5 to 7 years younger. So, we're talking and he says to me, 'Man, don't you wish we had been old enough to see them for Powerslave or the first 7th Son tour?' I shook my head and said, 'Um...I did.' So, I guess that means I look younger than I actually am, which is nice. I heard a few other guys down in front of me saying things like, 'Wow, Maiden hasn't lost it at all.' It made me wonder if they've paid attention since 2000. Do they even realize that they've released new material and have performed in front of millions of people in the last 12 years?

Interesting note: I saw a woman who was wearing an actual AC/DC-Queensryche shirt from 1986. That shirt should have been devoured by moths by now! I couldn't believe it. Many US fans seem to be stuck in a timewarp. They're perpetually stuck in the late 80's.

My Philosophy professor is stuck in the 70's with the ridiculously bright shirts he wears, a tie, and the acid rock he listens to

Have been talked into going to see the Stone Roses tomorrow with a friend. Never been to a non-metal gig before, very tempted to stand at the back with crossed arms scowling at people.

In happier news, I *think* the gf has brought me tickets for Motorhead/Anthrax in November. Which obviously is awesome, but also meant to be a surprise. So  .

Sounds like a keeper. I just bought Motorhead/Anthrax/Slayer tickets for my niece and I. It's going to be fun. Her first metal concert as well. Sucks that High on Fire bailed.
