In happier news, I *think* the gf has brought me tickets for Motorhead/Anthrax in November. Which obviously is awesome, but also meant to be a surprise. So  .
Sounds like a keeper. I just bought Motorhead/Anthrax/Slayer tickets for my niece and I. It's going to be fun. Her first metal concert as well. Sucks that High on Fire bailed.

She seems to be.

Yeah, shame they're not on the tour here, would love to see HoF live.

What can I say? They're just fkin' perfect! I have great video of Number of the Beast, 7th Son, and Run To The Hills.

Saw Black Breath, Burning Love, The Secret and Enabler last night. I have been pimping Enabler on this site for a while and I'm honestly thinking there new material isn't as strong as their past stuff but they're a fucking beast live.

Burning Love, if you haven't checked them out, you need to. It's the vocalist from Cursed and he is possibly one of the best vocalists I have ever seen. His delivery is so on cue. Check it.

The Secret was pretty blah. It was basically Trap Them's dramatic, sludgy hardcore minus actually good riffs. Slowing down does not equal heaviness.

Black Breath was not surprisingly awesome. Performing live they really broke out the breakdowns, chugging with their dash of Sabbath soloing over top the breakdown. That was pretty cool and never really stood out on their studio albums. So good.

Took my niece yesterday to Rockstar Mayhem Festival. God, it was a suckfest.

Betraying the Martyrs. Suicide Silence with epic clean vox, dubstep beats and synchonized dance moves? Get the fuck out with that shit. Seriously, the band had synchronized stomps and the lead singer was doing some weird Thriller/interpretative dance of being birthed/acting possessed move that he just kept doing. Fucking lame.

Whitechapel. I heard so many chugchugchug riffs that day that by the time it got to As I Lay Dying I wanted to throw up. As for 'chapel, they're fucking boring.

Asking Alexandria. Lame cock rock-infused metalcore. The teeny boppers loved it, my niece included. The crowd was super rowdy, moshing and crowd surfing since the beginning and so I spent most of my time making sure we didn't get kicked in the back of the head or shoved into the fence.

Devil Wears Prada. Never heard these guys before. Faintly remembered them being Christian-y and that they were from Ohio. Apparently, they have a huge Ohio following because kids rushed to the front where we were standing and began doing their hardcore dancing bullshit. I had to pay attention to the fucktards in front of me so that I didn't get hit by their head because they were headbanging so obnoxiously which led to me getting kicked in the back of the head multiple times by crowdsurfers. Christian hardcore can go fuck off and die.

Anthrax. Second time in recent months getting to see them. This time, given the crowd, they went with all the classics which was fun in a way. It made me feel like a huge fan being able to sing along with every track when I kinda really don't care much for Anthrax. At this point, though, shit got super crazy. And I decided that my niece and I were going to get away from the front at the end of the current song once the crowd loosens up, when two people came crowd surfing over us at the same time. I grabbed the person on my left only to have the person on my right land on my niece. She dropped her glasses and someone stepped on them. She quickly got bummed out. We walked to the back to catch the rest of the set.

As I Lay Dying. Second time I've seen them but they are so forgettable that I just really didn't give a fuck.

Motorhead. First time seeing 'em and it was fucking loud. Then they turned up the volume some more. Played all their classic hits. I was kinda hoping for some Motorizer tunes but didn't happen. Ace of Spades did, though, at which point all the half-assed douches actually got interested in the show. Fucking pathetic. They ended with Overkill and just so many false stops and starting up again with the opening riffs and kick drums. It was cool.

Slayer. Another first time for me. I hadn't listen to Slayer in maybe a year or so. I kinda only care for Reign in Blood at this point but damn do I remember all the words to all their hits. Disciple is fucking awesome live. At about this point, I located the Christian hardcore kids in their seats, just sitting down while everyone is going crazy for Slayer. Me and this drunk asshole started screaming GOD HATES US ALL and pointing at the fucks. They were visibly uncomfortable. They played half of RiB: Altar, Jesus, Angel, finished with Raining Blood. Araya praised the freedom that we have in America and devoted Mandatory Suicide to Randy Blythe. Only a small portion of the crowd knew what they were referring to. Kerry King is a douche. Gary Holt is a badass. At this point or so, my niece had propped her glasses on her nose and watched Slayer's set and she was really loving it. She was cracking up by how into it her uncle was, and I was seriously going crazy. Screaming the lyrics with dudes down the aisles, headbanging, throwing fists in the air, stomping the mosh in front of my seat. It was worth the ticket price, I guess.

Highly amused at the thought of drunk Slayer fans abusing Christian hardcore kids. Amused and delighted.

How old are you, trapt?

Umm, I'm 23. If this was about the niece mention, I'm the youngest of four kids so my older siblings have children and my niece is the oldest at 15.

Well, it was that, but also because a few posts back you said you have a Practice What You Preach T-shirt from the '89 tour.

Just curious.

Starting to get stoked for September.

Me and the wife are seeing Devin Townsend, Katatonia, and Paradise Lost in Dallas, then the next day flying to Atlanta for Prog Power. Symphony X, Epica, Pretty Maids, and a lot of other good bands to check out.

The article says this very thing, but they have a video stream of bloodstock open air. Currently watching Dio Disciples, but Watain and Behemoth are supposed to play after them if anyone is interested. I missed out on Watain on that last tour and so am excited to see their performance. Probably not as epic given the festival setting.

Conclusion: Tim Owens is kinda awkward on stage.

Just bought a ticket for Nasum 20th anniversary tour next week, with Psycroptic as well.

Keijo from Rotten Sound on vocals for Nasum.

Grind acts hardly ever come to Australia. I've never been to see one before. Psyched as shit.

I think at the ripe old age of 26, I might have had enough of sweaty kids in the pit. I know the venue, it's small place with a Bar down the back. I might just head back there and headbang while throwing down a few shots of tequila.

I'm going to make the 350 mile drive to Baltimore, Maryland next month to see Katatonia, Devin Townsend, and Paradise Lost. :dio:

That sounds great. I haven't see PL live yet, but Katatonia I have and despite their great music their live performance isn't very thrilling. Devin, well, Devin speaks volumes of excitement and showmanship.

Katatonia aren't very consistent in their liveshows apparently. When I saw them at Graspop a few years ago I thought they were pretty awesome but a friend of mine said the last show he went to was terrible. So you never know what you're going to get.

I have considered going to this show, but I'll only have a two hour drive.

Cannibal Corpse are playing here in October.

I'm not their biggest fan, do they put on a good show? I guess if they put on a good show I'll go.

It's like a $60 ticket with Psycroptic (who play with everyone here, so I've seen them), Disentomb and Entrails Eradicated, both of whom I don't know much about.

CCorpse are good, but not worth $60 unless your death metal deprived. And never heard of those last two bands.
