Yeah everyone who smokes pot is really miserable and just uses it to escape from the world!!!!!

Oh wait, you're retarded.

I've had some very positive things come out of smoking weed.

But I guess I should listen to the people who have never smoked weed (or if they have smoked it's been shit weed) to tell me all about it (yo whats up DARE).

Only reason pot is even illegal is because of Harry Aslinger ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_J._Anslinger ).

I'd also like to know how it ruins your body/mind seinfeld.

In the same way alcohol and smoking can ruin your body. Too much of it can screw up some of the chemical balancing/processes in your brain. And can also cause the same lung, etc. problems heavy smoking can cause.

I think the main reason why it's still illegal is because, even though it's less addictive than alcohol and cigarettes, it doesn't take as much of it to "set you off." To get drunk, you have to consume an abnormal amount of alcohol. By contrast, to get high, you really only need to smoke one joint. And then you're basically out of action until your high wears off.

Maybe it's just me, but I seem to be able to function reasonably well while high. It's not like I'm a complete wreck or anything.

Most musicians do drugs. That Bill Hicks quote is very, very true.

If I gave you 2 Beers right now, odds are you would feel pretty tipsy since you don't drink. There is a thing called tolerance.

The reason alcohol/cigarettes are legal is because of the huge amount of tax money the government gets. Plus, it's too contentious an issue for Birts, at least, to legalise - we still get ridiculous news reports every so often about how some cabinet minister once smoked pot at Uni, and is very, very sorry.

The best part is that politicians never enjoy smoking pot. Ever.

My friends seem to do nothing else on their free time. And while they're all intelligent, fun people, it sometimes irks me to be the only "healthy" guy among a bunch of stoners.

These two points are in direct contradiction. Smoking weed doesn't cause the same lung problems as cigarettes because, like you said, you don't need very much weed to feel high. The most weed I've ever smoked in one day was 3 joints... a lot of smokers go through 10 times that every day.

xD

Weed can mess you up, but only if you're an idiot about it. I used to smoke enough that it stopped getting me high, but I'd feel burnt out when I wasn't smoking it... but then I was like "hey this is bad", so I stopped and felt like crap for a few days and couldn't sleep, but then a week or two later I was normal... compared to the 3 months of depression and insomnia my sister went through trying to quit cigarettes thats really not much.

Actually, here in the States, alcohol was illegal from 1920 until about 1933. It was a period called prohibition (which was also in several other parts of the world around the same time). The government reluctantly re-legalized it after witnessing all the smuggling, street violence, etc. their law on prohibition caused. Especially considering the fact that the Great Depression was just beginning, and a lot of people had no real escape from their desperate financial woes other than alcohol.

I guess weed isn't legal because stoners aren't violent enough to do stuff like that then

I do drink occasionally. And yes, I'll admit that I have been drunk before (twice, actually). I didn't really like it, though.

Yes, I'm aware of Prohibition. Imagine how much happier people would have been during the depression if they'd have had access to pot! :)

Chris Barnes said "I don't know where I would be if it weren't for pot."

Quote:
Six Feet Under -- 4:20

Sit back and hold your breath, just let nature take effect
A warm glow inside my bones
The touch of velvet rubbed against my soul
Thoughts of things you've always known
Thoughts of things you've always known
Break through and listen, to yourself
To your Self

Let go of perception - enter true reality
I can see through my third eye...
Sit back and hold your breath, just let nature take effect
A warm glow inside my bones
The touch of velvet rubbed against my soul
Thoughts of things you've always known
Thoughts of things you've always known
Break through and listen, to yourself
To your Self

Let go of perception - enter true reality
A sea of green will set us free
Dank
Expand my inner being
Through what the Earth provides
I hear her voice aliing
The hour has arrived...

Sit back and hold your breath, just let nature take effect
A warm glow inside my bones
The touch of velvet rubbed against my soul
Thoughts of things you've always known
Thoughts of things you've always known
Break through and listen, to yourself
To your Self

Let go of perception - enter true reality
It's 4:20

The best Sabbath song is 'Sweet Leaf'...

I'm pretty sure smoking a joint is equivalent to smoking a pack of cigarettes in terms of tar consumption. IMO both options are lame. If you need a stress reliever, then work out or drink a guiness (not saying get trashed).

I was being sarcastic. I hate Chris Barnes and pretty much everything he ever touched musically, so.. I kinda hope you are too.

I'm still not very anti-weed or anything (i actually enjoy some myself every now and then) but...

That Bill Hicks quote is, while funny, some of the most tired bullshit ever. I listen to Ildjarn, even though i'm not a vegetarian living alone in the woods. I listen to GG Allin, even though i'm not a heroin addict who shits in public. I listen to Mistreat even though i'm not a WP skinhead. See where i'm going with this?

Chris Barnes is a pussy.

Yep. Plus, it's kinda sad no matter how much truth it may have to it. Kinda like telling a baseball fan to thank steroids for every record that has been set.

That was entirely beside the point, but everyone should be a heroin addict who shits in public. Cause I'm fucking the dog.
