Paying for downloads has always seemed kinda silly to me.

I do but only when it's a band asking us to pay for something that will not be released on CD and when the price is chosen by the buyer.

I buy downloads if an album isn't released on vinyl because paying for CDs seems silly to me.

At least CDs have some practical use; I use them in my car all the time. I haven't seen any portable vinyl players.

Plus, you can download albums for free through torrents and get more or less the same experience you get when you pay for it. At least with CDs you get the art, case, disc, and potential to play it wherever.

I'm with Legacy on this one. I rather have the jewel case with the artwork then download it from a site.

Yeah I can see the appeal. My opinion about what format to buy fluctuates every now and then.

You can use your ipod in the car as well though, plus if it's too hot CD's can melt if you leave them in the wrong part of the car. Made that mistake once.

It's been over 100 F (or 37.7 C or 310.3 K) daily for the past few weeks here, meaning the inside of my car has been around 130F (54.4 C or 327.4 K) for a lot of afternoons. I keep my CDs somewhere away from direct sunlight and leave them in the player a lot, and nothing has happened to them yet.

I'm guessing you left yours in direct sunlight one summer day or you live closer to the equator than I do.
