Yeah his vocals on De-loused and Frances the mute i think maybe were better but I think the vocals he does now fits the music a lot more.

cool.

That was an awesome show. Rambo, the guys from American Chopper and The Mars Volta. Oh yeah, and Bruce Willis doing vocals for the Paul Schaffer Orchestra.

I've listened to this 5 times now and i think something really fucking good is going to have to come out for it to not be the best album of the year. I'm already thinking its better than anything from 2006 or 2007

No doubt about it man. Only problem I could say I have a problem with is Soothsayer, but in a couple days I'll have probably got into that one. Agadez, Ouroborous, Goliath, Metatron and Conjugal Burns would have to be my favorite tracks.

I love Soothsayer. The "WOBBBBB" synths that come in around the middle are  . The songs that haven't really clicked with me yet are Cavalettas (is it just me or is the dissonant stacatto riff in this song at 1:50~ the same as the one in Ouroborous at 5:00?) and Askepios, but those are still good songs. "Agadez", "Metatron", "Ouroborous", "Wax Simulacra", and "Goliath" are about as good as Mars Volta get.

At first I was kind of annoyed with how much Cedric harmonized with himself but each time I listen to it it gets less annoying. Their new drummer is sooo good.

askepios is so awesome, when they really break out the jams towards the middle of the song its so kick ass.

I'm interested in listening to this band. Which album(s) should I start with?

I think Bedlam in Goliath or De-Loused in the Comatorium are the best starting places. Just as a warning they took like 3 months to grow on me so even if you don't like them at first give them another chance :P

No do this.

1. Get the Tremulant EP, listen to it.
2. Get De-Loused in the Comatorum, listen to it a lot.
3. Get Frances The Mute, listen to it a lot
4. Get Amputechture, listen to it a lot.
5. Then et The Bedlam in Goliath, and listen to it a lot.

I was like you once. I can't even remember which album I tried, but it made me want to pull my eyes out.

bastard! that game is actually pretty cool... I was sort of ready to cringe when I heard Mars Volta were involved in a video game, but it was well done and it's story fit the mood of the album well.

Theres also a bonus disc with some covers going arund that's pretty cool... the Nick Drake and Soft Machine covers are

The game was rather good! Some quite freaky moments. I'm enjoying the album too.

I like this better than all TMV I heard before. The drumming is insane.

I suck :(. I can't figure out how to use my materials with anything. It just says "Use rope with..." or whatever.
