Haven't their albums been rereleased recently? Might go for Filth Hounds...

Links from Metal archives.

It's a solid album, if you like NWOBHM.

This is N.W.O.B.H.M by the name of Anthem-and I've only heard one song, England. It's fantastic and me and my friends listen to it green. It was released in 1981.

Martyrium (Germany)
L.V.X Occulta (1994)
Black Metal
Made one full-length album then split up. It's an above average album, different than your garden variety black metal, and one not really mentioned a whole lot.

This is the cover of Will of the Gods is Great Power (1996), Russian epic doomsters Scald's only album. A forgotten but magnificent work of art, with probably the most beautiful guitar work I have ever heard in a doom album. Unfortunately, singer Algyl was killed the following year in a train accident and the band split up. The remaining members formed progressive folk act Tumulus.

If you're into doom and don't know this band, take a listen, you'll be instantly hooked: http://www.myspace.com/scaldtribute

Cool thread, btw.

Released: 1985

A brief write up I found:

"Malice was featured on a couple of the famous Metal Massacre compilations on Metal Blade Records back in the early ’80s. The band then signed up with Atlantic to release this fine gem of an album in 1985 (followed by 1987’s License To Kill and 1989’s Crazy In The Night E.P.). I remember reading the Rock mags and seeing that Malice was poised for stardom based on their Judas Priest brand of Heavy Metal. This band had a decent following but got lost in the shuffle of the Glam/MTV Hard Rock movement. Despite being based in Los Angeles (the hotbed of U.S. Metal & Hard Rock), Malice basically disappeared after the 1989 E.P.

In The Beginning is one solid Metal feast. Fave track here is Tarot Dealer but all the songs are solid. Rockin’ With You, Into The Ground, Squeeze It Dry, Hellrider…..all provide healthy portions of loud guitar and Halford-esque vocals. And dig that logo! Nothing was better than the logos back in the ’80s, everyone had one and Malice’s is one of my favorites!"

Obscure Canadian thrash. They only released one full-length and + two demos, where one of them is of the incredible kind. Galy Records has re-released their first demo, To Be a Real Terrorist, which sounds rather awesome. Just heard them myself.

Soothsayer will get ignored by most, because they are Canadian. Or they will be what Zad calls, a Slayer ripoff.

Icon: S/T

Released: 1984

Wikipedia write up:

'Originally known as Schoolboys, ICON was formed in 1981, in Phoenix Arizona by high school friends Dan Wexler(guitar), Stephen Clifford(vocals) and Tracy Wallach(bass). They were joined by David Henzerling and John Covington. In 1984, ICON was signed to Capitol Records. Henzerling and Covington had left the band and were replaced by John Aquilino(guitar) and Pat Dixon (drums).

In 1984, Icon released their self-titled debut, Icon. In 1985, Night of the Crime was released. During the mixing of "Night", vocalist Stephen Clifford decided to leave the band for personal reasons. In 1989, Right Between the Eyes was released, with new singer Jerry Harrison. Following the release of Right Between the Eyes and a supporting tour, Icon subsequently disbanded. All the while band members continued to be involved in music projects. In 1994, (An Even) More Perfect Union was released, as a CD release.'

This was an album that I could not get enough of when I was a teenager. Wow, 1984, I was 15. I've always thought that this was one album that should have garnered more recognition. This album was solid from start to finish. You can hear the track 'Under My Gun' here:

Nice 80s metal from across the pond (and up a bit) that never seems to get talked about.

Listen to it at Vibrations of Doom
