Ok but it will have to wait until tomorrow or Sunday, ha. I just found 2 bands on my own that have just blown me away, so I am working on acquiring more of them. But as soon as I accomplish this, your list will be mine to conquer. I will try them all. Although I already know a couple of them.

That said, Midnight's Satanic Royalty is a fine recommendation. Great thrash'n'roll with a Venom and Motörhead vibe.

not really my area of experise when it comes to doom, Cathedral, Electric Wizard, Down and Cirith Ungol (who probably aren't actually stoner/doom) is the extenet of my stoner/doom knowledge

on top of that Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Black Sabbath, Confessor, Memento Mori, Pentagram and Type O Negative rounds out my clean vocaled doom

doom/death makes up the vast majority of my doom with Amorphis, Anathema, Draconian, Hooded Menace, Katatonia, My Dying Bride, Nevertanezra

Ho! I remember now!
If you haven't try it yet, make sure to give a spin to OGRE's Plague of the Planets

Just the debut, but I lost it when my iPod broke a few months back. Will try them now. Where should I (re)start?

I personally think I and II are very good but I haven't listened to them in a very long time. I'm thinking of ordering III on vinyl from amazon.

All three albums are fantastic, you can't wrong with any of them. :)

+1

Hey Snake,

I looked into The Devil's Blood and I definitely dig 'em. While doing that I found Blood Ceremony and a band called Black Moth, both have female vocalists and I think you'll like them.

Wally, another band you may want to check out would be Elder. They have a new release called Dead Roots Stirring. Venomous Maximus latest album 'Beg Upon The Light' kicks a fair amount of ass as does Indesinence's 'Vessels of Light & Decay'

Elder is a band that's been on my radar the last couple weeks, saw some stuff on iTunes. Will download now.

Will dive into everybody else's suggestions tomorrow. Was planning on doing it today, but work has beckoned me.

Blood ceremony is really cool. I haven't bought the album yet but I've heard the single whos name I cannot think of but they are the band with the flutist. It really sounds very sabbathy with a female vocalist. There are a bunch of great bands like this out right now.

and holy shit snake, I'll start on the list shortly.

You might like Causa Sui then http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMzz6i-FwMs

Also I've been loving Sandrider's album so much I gotta post them, although they're maybe a little fast for the "stoner" tag and DW might hate the vox

Idk if you were looking for straight up doom metal Wally but if you are you should check out.

Pallbearer-sorrow and extinction-awesome album. Really thick heavy riffs.
Isole-is amazing
Solitude aeturnus-Robert Lowe also sang for candlemass for awhile. Hopefully he gets back to this band now that he is no longer with candlemass.
Warning-watching from a distance. When it comes to lyrics in doom metal, it all starts and ends with Patrick walker. Such a deep album. So much meaning.
Memory driven-animus-I really like this album. It's kind of a grungy doom. Really cool.
Candlemass-I'm not really into them but a lot of people are and there is probably someone else who could help you better with them.

That's all I can think of at the moment. All these band are straight doom

Oh and a open question to anyone who has listened to the gates of slumber-the wretch. Does anyone else get a serious Jim Morrison vibe from the singer or am I crazy?

Just packed a bowl and was about to start tackling this list. I am currently listening to some Graveyard on youtube, don't know if anybody mentioned them but they fit the sound I am really looking for. Maybe a little too staright forward for me, but the riffs and the groove and just the old school feel to it, ah... I love dope.

Anyway, I will start with page 1 and work my way through. This may take a while. I'll try and comment as I go.
